Good afternoon, IHD!
I'm Walt, otherwise known online as Bayushi.
I was diagnosed with ADPKD (Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease) in November of 2012, and my Nephrologist was able to help me keep things under control until last year (15 months after having a fistula placed). I started hemodialysis at the local (now a town over) Fresenius clinic in June of 2014 and have missed but one day since. I medicate with Phosrenol for high phosphorus (disgusting chalky things that those tablets are!) and have to avoid potassium as well. Thankfully, I do not have a fluid restriction at this time nor does sodium seem to be presenting an issue.
I was already permanently disabled courtesy of a ruptured cerebral aneurysm in 2002 (aneurysms are apparently a 'side effect' of PKD) and had a second brain aneurysm located and "coiled" in January of this year.
I am a 38-year old man with no past history of kidney problems, nor a family history of such. I am a former IT professional with both secondary education and trade schooling in the field. Nowadays, my life involves dialysis (thrice weekly), playing online multiplayer games to keep myself from being an anti-social shutin and walking about the local area (if I need groceries, I gotta walk. The after-effects of the brain aneurysm have left me permanently incapable of driving).
