Title: Blindness after Dialysis
Post by: Hazmat35 on November 11, 2014, 11:08:16 AM
I have a fellow patient @ my center who asked me to put this out and see if anyone had anything like this...

She is steadily going blind, but before Dialysis; her eyesight is fairly decent; not good enough to drive, but she isn't walking into walls either.  But during "D"; it starts to weaken and towards the end; she can't hardly see at all.  She doesn't see "spots' just her vision is gone!!!

Any thoughts or suggestions?  I can't tell you what doctors she's seen for this; or what she's tried, she just asked me to throw it out there!!!!

When I had the 'not seeing spots' thing I had retina detaching. "Most likely caused by Pred" , and a fall. Pretty important to see an ophthalmologist.

Immediately following dialysis macular degeneration kicked in.  I don't know if I would relate the two but it happened.
Eyesight got serious, very serious.  I had to see my Harley - sniffle.  47 years in the saddle.  I even shaved.
Now I sit around, squint at the TV and run big fonts on the computer.  I can't read Playboy anymore so I just look at the pictures.

Prednisone is dangerous stuff.   I had a 3 month course in early 2012, and am now recovering from a halloween hip replacement for prednisone induced avascular necrosis.
