Hey. Hope everyone is doing well.
I have been having troubles for a LONG TIME now with Neuropathy; that burning foot sensation! It is DRIVING ME CRAZY! I am NOT a diabetic, my levels are fine; numerous doctors have tested them; one doctor; just told me that I'm too heavy; and loose weight. (Moran)
I have tried, GABAPENTIN, and even up the dosage per the DR...and it never worked, not even a little bit! so I stopped taking it...!
Does anyone have any suggestions or remedies that have worked for them? I am open to "almost" anything at this point.
I am am on Hemo Dialysis (3x / week @ 4 hours) and have a KT/V of 1.38. All my other blood levels are just fine...no issues at all.
HELP!!!!! :sos;

Gabapentin is very weak treatment for painful neuropathy. Also it requires high doses to work and these usually are hard to tolerate.
I treat a lot of it. I usually start with Lyrica as it is approved specifically for this. Gabapentin is really just an anti seizure med that can sometimes help with nerve pain, but it is hit or miss. (I dont prescribe it much). If lyrica fails then I would go to Cymbalta (duloxetine) . It is an anti depressant that is aslo approved for arthritis and nerve pain.
There are also vit B derivitives that can help but the ones that work are very expensive. (Metanex)

Hello Hazmat,
I had such trouble as well at one time (no idea to what it was related to) and it was extremely trying!
During that time I took a herbal (warm) foot bath and was wearing warm socks afterwards and that helped me a bit,
or (I don't know whether you can take a bath), a herbal warm bath can be very helpful as well.
Fortunately "my" foot pain disappeared after a while and has not returned.
I do hope you get rid of this burning sensation in your feet very soon, because I know how very irritating it can be!
Best wishes and good luck from Kristina.

I wonder if increasing the magnesium in your diet would help any....just a thought? I know my partner went through the pain of neuropathy he found it excruciating at times but it all
seems to have settled now, though he has lost most feeling in his feet, circulation still good.
Leg cramps, foot pain or muscle ‘twitches’ are usually the first signs of magnesium deficiency....

Neurontin works for me most of the time. I have occasional pain but it's well controlled. If it doesn't work for you then it doesn't. They should try to find you something that does work because neuropathy is awful. Tell them you need help!

Lyrica helps me. I also use a topical analgesic cream called Zostrix HP. It's a Swedish product and is very effective!

Thank you to everyone who responded! I do appreciate it!
I've been trying to take [1] magnesium tablet per day at night w/ dinner....been taking it for a week now....and the burning sensation is going away. It isn't 100% gone, but a heck of a lot better than it was....maybe we're on the right track...
....multiple doctors....two different Physicians Assistants; one Specialist and none of them came up with this suggestion!!!!!!!

That's good news!
