Hi my name is Chantel. I'm a 30 years old female from Durand Michigan. I have read the disclaimers and I"m going to start off by admitting that I am the worst speller ever. I'm embarrassed to say so but it is true. So I am just going to say sorry now to everyone for any mistakes I make but I promise that I will work on it ;D. I was diagnosed with PKD when I was 21. November of 2012 I went into renal failure. They tried to start me on hemo that November but at my first session I infiltrated. Had to have a second surgery on my arm to raise the vein. Now I have a nice pretty scare that runs from my shoulder to my elbow. I did that only a couple of months and switched to PD. I have learned through my experience that every day is a new day and some are better than others. Over all I try to stay positive and engage in things that make me happy and laugh. I love to laugh. They do say that its the best medicine. I'm engaged to be married this October. If it wasn't for my wonderful fiance Josh and all of his support I don't know what I would do. He is amazing. I have been doing PD for a little over a year. I still consider myself a newbie. We come to this site quite often looking for answers whenever I need some extra reassurance . Sometimes its easy to forget I"m not the only one going through this. I finally decided to join. I think this will be good to talk to others. Its great to have family and friends that are so supportive but I don't think they always understand. Its not their fault they can't relate. So now I do dialysis everyday and my doctors and nurses ask every time I see them,isn't this great?! Isn't doing PD great?! I tell them yeah its better than hemo I guess. What I would like to tell them is I hate dialyis!

:waving; Hi, Chantel, glad you decided to join. I'm glad to hear that your family and Josh are so supportive, but you're right, they can't always understand. Sometimes you just need to talk to someone that really knows how you feel - and that would be us! ;D
