Where to start? After peeing blood on a trip, in the early 90's, I saw a doc. He said I had a kidney stone. Turns out I didn't have a kidney stone. Got a new doc. He said I had PKD. That was about 20 years ago. My parents didn't have PKD. My kids, both in their 40's, don't have PKD. In Viet Nam (66-67), I was exposed to Agent Orange and Radiation. I may be one of those spontaneous PKD people, perhaps from my experience in Viet Nam. My kidney function got down around 11% last Oct (2012). The VA (they have been terrific) put a catheter in me and I started manual PD. 4 times a day. Eventually, four months later, the fluid wouldn't stay in the peritoneal cavity, so I had to stop. They took out the tube (hurray), then put in a fistula. That fistula clotted, so I got another fistula. My system had gotten cleaned out on PD, so I was able to stay off dialysis for about a year. February 25, 2014 I started HD. The fourth time I was infiltrated. The fifth time I was infiltrated. After some ultrasounds, and other tests, it looks like I may need yet another fistula. The next procedure is scheduled for Monday. My fingers are crossed that this one works.
I have been poking around this forum for over a year, and finally decided to join in. Thanks for having me!

Welcome to the forum
My wife was infiltrated the second day. I started sticking her and have only infiltrated once myself we have been using the same fistula for 8 years using the button holes.

Hello 9gkids,
and welcome to IHD... I also suffered last summer a kidney stone which made my life hell until January this year...
No one could find out what it was all about with my kidney stone.... but it is certain now that this kidney stone hastened my ESRF so that now I am pre-dialysis...
with a very uncertain future....
..., these kidneys stones have a lots to answer to... the pain I suffered with this kidneys tone was indescribable... and I could take no pain killers because of my fragile kidneys....
I do hope you feel better soon, good luck and kind regards from Kristina...
