here's my story
December 31st 2012 sitting at home, couldn't breath, drove to the hospital and died in the emergency room twice. lungs shut down then the heart then everything else. Double pneumonia
spent 2 weeks in the hospital.
February 2013 started all different scans to check for damage to other organs.
found spots on the lungs, pancreas, liver and kidneys.. everything else was eventually declared clear except the kidneys.
left kidney was described as engorged and blackened, right kidney under sized and tumorous
April 16th 2013 went in for surgery to remove the left kidney. started drug treatment to contain the cancer in the right kidney.
over the next several months i went from 160 pounds down to 125 pounds
currently holding steady at 130, gaining slowly
I am still trying to gain back some weight before letting them take the right kidney
hard to do when you have no appetite and a restricted diet
finally got rid of the chest catheter in October.
currently going to dialysis 3 hours a day 3 times a week
went back to work in late May 2013, could barely function, retired on disability February 2014
also in February I was found to be a diabetic, "diet controlled diabetic" is how the doc put it
so now I will be dealing with that.
anyway glad I found this place, been reading through the thread. Interesting site

Hi GrayBeard, and welcome to IHD. I'm so glad you found us. Rocky Road to say the least. Sorry about that. You will do better now that you are not trying to preform at work. At least I did better. You will have time to cook and eat right and time to take walks and smell the roses. Heal.
Come here often. We have a lot to say.
