Title: Opinion of this mac and cheese recipe
Post by: Bungarian on November 22, 2013, 01:04:23 PM
Supposed to be renal freindly. Found it on the Davita website. Check out the link

The comments section says they quit making the cheese but it is in my local Walmart. I am going to try it tomorrow. I miss mac and cheese

Oh I looked at that recipe too. I thought they were talking about those little glass jars of cheese which I would think would ruin the mac and cheese. And, of course, I would not add the chilis. But, now that you have tried it, I may do so too.

If they are not talking about the little glass jars, what are they talking about?
I'm not familiar with the Kraft Cheese Spread.

When we made it a couple years ago, it was indeed the little glass jar of pimento cheese. It tasted alright but we never made it again. I think the texture is very satisfying but it doesn't taste like mac n cheese really.

Not sure about the jar of pimiento cheese but maybe it would be OK if breadcrumbs (homemade, of course!) were sprinkled on top and it was put under the broiler for a few minutes!
