I had fistula surgery last Tuesday(10/22/13)
Everything seemed to go well and the fistula is buzzing away. The incision looks good. The problem is my hand is still swollen. I prop it up at night when I sleep and when I get up the swelling is gone. During the day it swells again. How long will this last?

I had fistula surgery in September. Had no swelling of my hand. The area around the incision was swollen for about 4 weeks then went away.

Did you call the doctor? Jenna had no swelling in her hand but she had an upper arm fistula.

The doc said it was normal and not to worry about it. I still would like to know how long it will last.

My swelling from my second surgery (upper left arm) took a full 2 weeks to lessen, and it looked AWFUL. The lower arm surgery that failed had very little swelling, but then, it didn't work. Maybe swelling is an indicator of having a GOOD fistula?
