I've been putting off getting an iron infusion for about 2 years as I've watched my iron levels plummet. First I was scared. Just the word infusion made me fearful. Then I tried to get an iron infusion and my last clinic made it such a huge production. They made me set up an appt with the blood transfusion center that was weeks if not months out. Since I switched to Davita there is no wait. My PD nurse does it at my clinic visit and she does it after she does my labs so only one needle stick. I was really scared at first but there is really nothing to it and I feel so much better. The past 2 weeks I've had more energy than I can remember having in years. I'm finally able to get some things done around the house. Even my wife is noticing my new energy level. My only regret is I wish I wouldn't have waited so long.
By the way, Davita has their sh*t together. I'm so happy I left MGH. I have an awesome nurse and the dietitians know their stuff. The only hangup I've had so far is figuring out my prescriptions. I'm not eligible for Davita pharmacy because of some glitch with my insurance. Other than that the difference is night and day. Anyone in the Boston area, avoid MGH at all costs. They are terrible.

I am glad you find your place in Davita. I was very aprehensive when Davita bought our clinic. I see a lot of good changes from Davita. In here you will read a lot of negative about Davita. One thing I learned from our clinic is Davita is the owners and the name but the staff are the representatives of the name and the company.
I am in a bad Davita center but it is not bad because of the Davita name or the Davita owners. It is bad because of the staff, the choice in workers Davita has working for them. They are the representatives of Davita the name and the company and they tarnish Davita's name and business.
I am not ignoring Davita's faults but Davita is a better company than the staff they have working for them in our center.
I sure wish Undercover Boss would do a show on Davita and pick some of their worst centers.

There are a lot of new things and not all of them I agree with but overall the people at Davita have treated me well. I think a for profit center is better than a non profit because they seem to try harder. MGH is a learning hospital but they seem to cut corners to save money and that isn't good for a patient's long-term health. I have zero regrets leaving MGH.
