I'm still pre-dialysis, late stage 4/early stage 5, with about 10% function left. I have my fistula, so I'm ready to start dialysis whenever the time comes. Like most people nearing dialysis, I have lost a good bit of weight, and in fact, I'm about 6'2", 165 lbs. Recently, even my 36" waist pants are falling off me, and I'm wondering if I should start buying 34" waist pants.
So, here's where I need your input. Will I gain any weight when I start dialysis, or will I stay about the same?

depends on your modality. If you're going to hemo, which is sounds like you are, then probably not. you might gain fluid weight, depending on what you take in and what your body is naturally able to get rid of. In that instance, the weight gain is totally on you, and doesn't really have much to do with dialysis.
If you're going to PD, then you might gain weight from the sugars in the solution, and the fact that you'd be carrying around a good bit of fluid weight

My wardrobe includes all sizes from S to XXL, as I loose, and gain weight depending on uhm fluid, meds, ops etc. I would by some 34" waists too.
Can't have to many cloth now, can you.
Good luck with D,
Take care Cas
