Not that any of you knew him, but he was one of my dialysis buddies, and a bloody good bloke! I shall miss him. May he rest in peace. Our center runs at around 20 patients, and we've lost 5 in the 18 months it's been open. I hate this vile disease.

Emen, brother!
I'm sorry you lost your mate. It just really saps it out of you. :(
-
That's a lot of loss - wow - so very sorry. :(

Chin up! :grouphug;

Thinking of you, Galvo....

So sorry. Whenever I hear this I think of when my mother died and one of her dialysis buddies came to the funeral home. It must be a very special bond.
-
RIP Roy. I'm so sorry for your loss.
:pray;

Thanks for your thoughts, gang. The death of a fellow sufferer always comes as a jolt. We know, of course, that death is inevitable, but we don't, and shouldn't dwell on it. I loved the following bit of dialogue from "The Departed" - Jack Nicholson to man in bar "how's your mother?" man - "She's not well; she's on the way out." Jack " we all are, Live Accordingly!."
I am seeing the nephrologist this morning, and then an old comrade and I are lunching at the Duntroon (our West Point) Sergeants' Mess. And a large 'Up Yours' to the renal diet!
Carpe Diem!

Sorry about your friend. Yes, this is a savage disease.
Three fellow patients and I formed what we affectionately called "The Dialysis Dinner Club". We used to go out to supper after our Wednesday in-center treatments.
One by one, over the years they all passed away. The death of my last remaining dialysis friend was what prompted me to switch to home hemo. I just wanted suddenly to be out of that unit. They had asked me the previous year if I would like to try home hemo but I declined saying that I actually liked the social aspect of in-center; to hang with folks who had similar problems. I mean, really, no one can truly understand unless they were on dialysis too.
I have been on home hemo for 1.5 years now and love it. I feel much better than I ever have and that's saying something because I felt great when I was doing it 3 times a week in-center.

Aw, sweet galvo, I am so very sorry.... :(
Glad to hear you went to live it up a bit. I can't think of a better way to honour a dialysis friend who's passed.
-
"Sweet"! Cariad, don't you dare ruin my reputation!
-
You don't fool us, sweet galvo!
I am very sorry to hear about your buddy.
-
Again, thanks to you all!
And I am so sour that I scare lemons!

And I am so sour that I scare lemons!
:rofl;
Aw, if only those lemons knew how adorable you are when you're trying to be sour.... :-*
Don't worry, you're secret is safe with us, galvo.
