Well, as hard as I was trying to put it off, and after 4 failed fistulas/grafts, I ran out of time . Wound up in the hosp. on July 4 with a kidney infection and a creat. of almost 8. I got a chest cath and I have had 2 treatments so far. YES I HATE IT. A LOT. I suppose I will get used to it and I suppose it gets easier. I am unfortunately on 2 waiit lists for centers near home so I still have to go back to the hosp. for treatments until something else comes through. I am still hoping for a transplant by the end of the year but I have so many other medical issues, that plan is not going very well.

oh hillary,,, it certainly sucks this route your on. But YES, it seems that all here say that it does get easier, and better, more tolerable? I wish you better, and hope and pray for a speedy transplant, but in the meantime, try to rest your mind and accept this as your holding spot, and do your best with it... I know not easy, not at all, but i wish you the best... :grouphug;

What a way to start D! Some on this site actually prefer the neck cath as opposed to sticking that sore arm. I recently had a catheter while in the hospital, and it wasn't too bad. I just worried about somehow getting an infection, which is pretty common with the neck line. Don't let it get you down. Things do get better as you get into a routine! Best of luck to you and hope you get a new kidney soon!
