My Renal failure was caused by my SLE, does anyone else have the same situation?

I know that we have had a least a couple of members with lupus here, but they don't seem to be posting much at the moment. There is of course always the option to contact people via PM. The only one I can remember at the moment is Lisa who goes by lillupie.

I am sorry you are so sick. You are way too young to be so sick. I know what this puts me through, I hate the idea of such a young person going through this. I am not happy about anyone, but especially the young. I am still on prednisone 15 mg, I can't seem to get off of it, I get to 5mg and I have a flare and, end up in the hospital. I was diagnosed in 2009, but I believe I had it a year before that. My dr's that I had before I moved misdiagnosed me.

Oh my goodness. Thank you for remembering me!!! Wow i really appreciate it. Ive been on Facebook groups soo much that Im not on here much.
But to ask the orginal question, yes I was diagnosed with lupus with kidney failure when i was 16 in 1999. I took predisone for a number of months and cytoxin for 3 months, was in remission and stayed in remission ever since. I had a baby when I was 23 years old and that pretty much did my kidneys in. I started dialysis in 2007, and have been on ever since. Have any more questions, you can ask me.

Hello. I have not been on this forum in quite a while (2yrs). I have SLE and ESRD. I have had a long struggle with Lupus. I was diagnosed when I was only 14 back in the 80's! I'm now 41. I experienced kidney failure (lupus nephritis) during my second pregnancy (which resulted in a miscarriage) when my lupus got way out of control. I was 27 at the time. I had to go on dialysis for a couple of years, then received my first transplant.
Life does go on. It is possible to cope with both diseases if you are your own advocate for your health. Hang in there. If you have any questions about my experiences feel free to ask. I'll be happy to share!
