Ever since Joe's surgery to place the new catheter, he's had this one area on one of his eyes that is raised/swollen and very red around it, maybe like a super big broken or about to break blood vessel? Ever had that happen?
-
I was told and this, may not be the problem here, but I had red blood shot eyes and the doctors said that was a sign of high phosphorus.
-
My guess would be high blood pressure. 8)

God, I hope his BP is not so bad it's causing this. Would his BP need to be chronically high or just high enough one time? Because usually it's fairly good, just a little high.

What are his numbers?

I can't say exactly, but I think it's normally around 135-140/90-95. Something like that. Not super high, but higher than ideal, probably.

That's fine, so I doubt his eye problem is due to High BP. Just so you know what a high BP is before I had my parathyroids removed my blood pressure was out of control the highest it had gotten was 260/140 :o and believe me I felt like crap. Talk about borderline heart attack.

I WIN!!!! ;D ;D ;D ...my blood pressure was 275/150, when first taken into hospital,
way back in '94. They used to get all the newer interns to "go
and check that new patient in e.r.....get his b.p. first" and watch their
faces go wide... :) :o
I remember the resident mentioning 'my head' and 'in orbit' in the same sentence! :o

I have had a slight problem with bleeding at the back of my eye. The Doctors said that was because of the anticoagulant heparin. Heparin can stay in your body for up to 24 hours. I got changed to Fragmin, only lasts up to 3 - 5 hours depending on the dose you are given. My eyes are now fine. That Bp pressure is fine, so I would be doubtful if it was due to that. Keep on at the DOCTORS to fined out why his eye is like that. That is if you can catch one. ;D. They move so quick down the unit. It took my 4 hours to see a Doctors the other day. >:(

Mine went up to 270/190 after I got both kidneys taken out. Had a couple of fits.
Sara, I would suggest Joe see someone about it asap. I dont think forums are the place to ask about things that could be serious.
