hi all,
i am back with another question. Since monday morning, i have been having this problem. i mentioned it to the nurse that sticks me and she put it down on her flow sheet. i am not sure anyone reads those damn things afterwards. so i will wait till a neph comes in to make rounds to talk to him directly but i thought i'd ask my wise friends here at IHD.
when i take a deep breath and exhale, when the exhaled breath crosses a particular point i get this pain in my heart area. feels like right at the heart. and then once the deep exhale goes along, the pain goes away. just this one point in the middle of the deep exhale.
if i am breathing normally, nothing happens. all is well. it only happens during a deep breath and only during the exhale phase, about 75% into the exhale phase. i had an EKG and bubble study done January 9th for my listing re-work. nothing came up in that. this is now over 24 hours with this problem so i am a bit worried.
anyone ever experience this? as usual any tips, advice, suggestions, is always appreciated.
Hope you are all doing great and keep on doing great forever.

T&T - If you're worried about it you should see your doctor. It might be something like a pulled muscle or a rib, but it could be something serious, too. I once had a sharp pain which sounded like yours when I breathed and it turned out to be a mild pleurisy-type thing. If it were your heart causing your discomfort I think you would feel pretty constant pain in your chest and sometimes down your left arm.

I had the same thing. Once in awhile when I would breathe in or out and would get sharp pain in the heart area. I thought it might be the heart or maybe the muscles around it. I ask my doctor and he told me it was probably the muscles around it expanding. I also had an ekg done and nothing came up during my workup.

Thank you MaryD and Relentless for your responses.
Yes i am certainly going to mention this to the neph. i think one of them is coming in tomorrow. and see what he thinks.
it is just one point during the exhale cycle when it hurts. for example, say the exhale cycle is point x to point z, then the point at which is hurts is about y=x+(60 or 75) or y=z-(25 or 40). once that particular spot passes, it's smooth travels to point z. i hope this rambling makes sense.
Thanks once again for your input. much appreciated.
hope you are all doing well and keep on doing well forever.

Hello all,
first of all hope you are all doing well.
just wanted to share an update on this topic. i did speak to the neph, but by that time the pain had stopped. i was no longer hurting during the exhale cycle so the neph said it must have just been gas. i guess i have to take his word. in a way, i didn't want to hear anything else i guess because if i enquired further, he'd probably want to get tests done and send me to a cardiologist. so i guess i just accepted his response in a way. but since that thanks to God, i have not had that pain again. all seems to be well.
Thank you all for your advice/tips/suggestions/experiences. i am as always supremely grateful.
Hope you are all doing well and keep on doing well forever.

I have some short quick pains in under my left breast and my cardiologist said it was probably gas, he said you can get gas pain about anyplace in your body. Glad it stopped.

thank you phyl for your response. much appreciated.
I am glad indeed that the pain stopped. i believe i have enough doctors to deal with already and don't need any more :-)
