:Kit n Stik; to whoever didn't stay home while sick. I've been trying sooooo hard to avoid it. I woke up sick early Saturday morning. Yay. Great way to start the weekend. I only went from bed to my couch and then back to bed for the last four days. I still don't feel great but I'm able to function again. My blood pressure is usually on the high side and I've been meaning to call my neph to ask her to adjust my meds again. I took my BP when I was sick and it was only 70-something over 40-something. I couldn't walk to the kitchen (15 feet away) to get myself a glass of water without stopping to sit on the floor for a while before I made the trek back to the couch. Somehow I think I managed to keep the cats & dogs fed. I was tempted to ask for a ride to the hospital, but I didn't know if I'd be able to walk out to get into a car and then get from the car to the hospital.
I need to have my labs run to see if it caused any damage, but I'm afraid the results will be skewed if I don't wait a week or so.

So sorry to hear this. It is a nasty flu. Hope you are feeling better soon!

The year my eGRF was 17 was the year of the swine flu season. My son who was living at home at the time managed to get it. Boy, we were so careful. He offered to move out, but I preferred having him at home. I had had my flu shots and we managed for me not to get it.
I always had good to lowish BP, but I was on a very low dose of BP medication to prevent spiking. I was told not to take my BP stuff when I had lowish BP which could be for weeks at a time. Then when my BP went back to normal levels I was to go back on the medication which might have been for a week or so. Eventually the medication was dropped for good. I don't think if your having a spate of BP levels that low it is a good idea to be taking your normal dose. Can you check with your clinic or nephrologist to see if you should reduce you medication?
Here's hoping your eGFR is not affected.

I stopped taking my blood pressure meds as soon as I saw how low it was. It's climbing back up to normal so I'll probably restart the meds tomorrow or the next day.

Oh Deanne, I'm so sorry to hear you've caught this awful flu! That' the last thing you need at the moment. Get well soon!

Did you get a flu shot?
-
Yes. I get the flu shot every year. I must've caught a different strain. I'm very glad I got the shot - I heard it lessens the severity if you still catch the bug after getting the shot.
