hello
my mom has started via temp catherer
she had a fistula operaion on saturday operaion went nicly but her hand is swollen
is it normal
and wht all things should we do and things which we should not do

It is normal for swelling of the hand. Make sure she does not lift anything with that arm. Also they should have given her a stress ball to squeeze to mature the fistula and help strengthen her hand. As is always possible and usually the case there is some nerve damage from operation that will affect how her fingers, hand and wrist feel and grip. Using the stress ball helps regain that strength and makes the nerve damage heal more quickly I have found. Obviously follow doctors orders and keep site as clean and sterile as possible to avoid infection. Get some rest and in no time hopefully everything will heal and work just as planned. Good luck. G.
