I don't know why I am so nervous!  You all put me at ease with this surgery and I want to thank you so very much for doing so.  Well here's to a happy day! Hope you all have a happy day too.

I too hope it goes well! My husband Jon is supposed to have surgery on his fistula this friday. They said they will put him under general anesthesia. They will do a fistulagram, and look for blockage and the "branches" the nephrologist thinks his fistual has now (got it end of April/ beginning of May last yr). He has had huge hematomas at the site and Jon told the techs not to use it, so they are using the chest catheter he still has. He has had a cold this week, so I think when he goes in fri. they will postpone all of this. The surgeon is leaving, so we are worried about this getting done here (he is the one that put the fistula in). I have to be at the special education office during all this at the hospital trying to finish up a history on my grandson for his evaluation. He is doing very badly in school and I know this is going to take a long time getting him help so can't put the meeting with the social worker off.

Smokin...I hope things get better for your grandchild.

I made it threw it.  Block didn't take right so they had to put the tube down my throat which caused a numb spot on my tongue!  I sure hope this goes away and soon!!!

Thanks for your well wishes everyone.  The Tramadol (for pain) and Advil combo worked great because I was in a lot of pain as soon as I came too. I'm still kinda drugged up so sorry for any spelling errors.

if you are thirsty try this QUENCH GUM...works like a charm and low potassium only 5.01 mg it really does work.  Can buy on Amazon and I think Dick's Sporting Goods. But call first before going to make sure they hsve it.

Have a great weekend everyone!

So glad you made it through it kit! My husband did well also. They didn't have to put the tube down his throat. The fistulagram showed the branches, but not blood clot, and I guess the fistula isn't narrowing. They told him the fistula was probably causing blood to pool below it and thats probably why he has had the fevers and throwing up every couple weekends. The dr removed a couple branches and so his fistula has to heal a few weeks before they try using it again. The branches that grew are probably why his fistula isn't enlarging as it is supposed to do.

Still going to meetings with the social worker at the special education building. We aren't done. Its been painful for me and my daughter, and this time I was the one that cried. Got called that there was an incident at school. Another student got upset that he thought Alex was grinding, acting in a sexual way behind him in line. Alex didn't touch him. He was put in in school suspension the rest of the day. When he got home, talking to Alex, he just had to pee and was wiggling. He showed us what he was doing, and we have seen him do that before. Not an actually sexual grinding motion. Poor Alex didn't understand why its bad. I have talked to the school physchologist and explained what it was. The principal had her call us. This had me freaked out. We've never seen any sexual behavior with our grandson, and they tell us that he hasn't been sexually abused. Alex has told the people in Mass. that no one has done anything like that to him. Just wish they would hurry up and get this evaluation done on him soon.
