Does anyone take supplements in addition to your regular meds? Started taking Omega 3 and Probiotics. Would ask at clinic but can never get any answers. After all that is why they call it "Practicing" Medicine right? Thought the Omegas would help with my hands, knees and feet. My hands swell during dialysis and become painful. Yesterday when I got home I felt so sick I slept all afternoon but when I woke up I couldn't hardly move my fingers on my right hand. Matter of fact this swelling started after my new fistula was put in, in my right hand. Doc doesn't have a clue..."well that's odd". Yeah, just the answer I want to hear from my surgeon! No one can figure this problem out but then they really are not trying to hard. So back to self diagnosing again and grabbing at straws. I know the Omega's take a few months to see results but I hope it helps. Just do not know what else to try right now.

I take Omega's, Ginko Biloba both in the hope they do something for the veins, and arteries. O yeah, and Co-enzyme
q 10. All in moderation >:(. Of course.
NB my hand kept swelling (less but still) until I created buttonholes) Do you have BH's?
good luck Kit, I do hope it works for you.

Tell your surgeon it's called steel syndrome and he needs to fix it.

Steel syndrome? I'll have to look that one up...thanks all.

I have blood clots from a recent surgery. I would look into the "steel syndrome" but my hematologist has me on folic acid for any swelling, and inflammation.

My nephrologist has me on 2 caps every day. Partially because I'd had DVT pre dialysis, but they don't seem to hurt anything. OTC meds cheap at places like Costco. Some non-kidney people take them regularly.
