Title: Alone for the holidays?
Post by: kit78 on December 24, 2012, 09:21:04 AM
I am single and once again.....alone for the holidays.  I seem to spend all the holidays alone now.  Normally I could care less as it is just another day.  But Christmas...being alone...yes...it bothers me.  Merry Christmas to all of you. Have a safe and happy holiday!

Same here. Maybe I'll buy a bottle of vodka and drink my self silly since I have dialysis next day.

Relentless your hysterical!  I'd be absolutely in heaven if I could drink a gallon of water!  I miss my water sooooo much!

Do something comforting even if you're alone. Watch a favorite movie, take a nap, do a jigsaw puzzle, whatever floats your boat. Merry Christmas!

happy ho ho!
This may sound wrong, but id probably rather be alone... i love my family to death, but this is sooo stressful. Being alone you could eat what you want, dress how you want, heck you can be nude if you want, dont have to spend money on stuff they wont appreciate....
get naked, have a drink, and watch a good flick! :) Now that sounds like a gooood christmas right there!
*hugs* im sorry you have to be alone today. ill be surrounded, but still feel alone. my thoughts are with all who are alone.

Darth, Sorry to hear your mum is in hospital hope all will be well soon. Hubby is in bed so along with all the other shi* he has man flue which is not good. We were going to the daughters for xmas dinner, I think I will have to do a flying visit because I have cooked the turkey. There is a saying " you don't have to be on your own, to feel alone." I hope you have a lovely time at your at your friends and I hope your mum gets well soon.

Santa brought me a sore throat and a head cold, so I skipped the massive extended family gathering and didn't even get out of bed until 3 pm.  I did go to the much smaller immediate family dinner last night, which I enjoyed, but I was too wiped out to think of more today.

kit78, if you don't have family to join, maybe next year you could ask someone to join you?  Last night's family gathering of 8 had only 3 blood relatives - myself, my sister, and my nephew, along with my sister's husband, - and the rest were friends who didn't have any place else to go.

Even if you can't cook, you could still invite another person (or 5) to go out to dinner.  I always figure McDonald's with a friend is better than home alone.  Or invite them over for a viewing of the The Christmas Story, and order in Chinese to be served with the dinner scene.

To quote last night's toast - "Friends are family you pick up along the way."

Yes I have family, but could not attend on this past Sunday due to having a switch in schedule from Monday to Sunday. It wipes me out too bad to do anything on those days.  I just missed my grandkids so bad it sucked!  Only missed one other time due to being sick with flu or something. It was the worst flu ever.
But I do hope you all had a great Christmas.

I got a kick out of reading this lol  :cheer: I like your idea but if I tried that in my place.. I'd have an innie instead of an outie lmao. This is a 90 yr old place that is not insulated. And on that note 6 months til winter!
