Title: What could be causing me an allergy?
Post by: CatonTheRoof on December 21, 2012, 09:25:56 AM
Most of the day I feel pretty normal.   However, lately when I wake up, I find myself with blocked nose and scratchy throat.  Is this an allergy?

Could it  be to the alcohol that I use for the peritoneal dialysis?

How do you use the alcohol? Drinking large amounts will leaving you feeling bad in the morning. :)

You could have some allergies. Maybe try over the counter Claritin or something. But more likely your nose is doing some queer thing in reaction to you sucking the liquid out of your body. You can try a saline nose spray. Harmless and might help.

Sulli beat me to it.  If you've started running the heater in your house, you may just be drying out while you sleep.  Does it get better after a hot shower?  IF so, a steam humidifier should do wonders, and they really are pretty inexpensive.

Or, if it really is an allergy, you may need to clean the dust out of the heating ducts.

If you think you may head the humidifier way, laundry drying on a clothes horse will do the trick, too, and is less expensive.
