Well I guess it's a case that no news is good news. Just maybe our friend here has had his transplant. I like happy endings. I also notice that our friend is from Slovenia, which is a beautiful country I've been lucky enough to visit twice! It's Europe's hidden gem, with some amazing caves and a stunning lakeside town called Bled. I'll go back there one day, when I'm new and improved. I hope we hear back from him soon... with some good news.
-
Hey, it is me. Opeariton went well, no complications, just my new kidney - i call it Chuck Norris is still a little bit lazy.
I alredy had one dialisys and tommorrow another one is scheduled. I hope these things are nothing to worry aboit.

:yahoo; awesome news, and WAKE up lazy kidney;)
-
Congratulations! Hope all goes well!
-
so increadably happy for you!! All these things you speak of sound completly normal.. So many ups and downs the first year it seems, but God willing, all will be just fine.. Cant wait till your up on your feet and liven the good life :flower; :pray; :grouphug;
-
It is not uncommon at all for a kidney to be "lazy" at first. I am so hoping that things will settle down for you very soon and that you will be able to enjoy your new life. Congrats!
-
Congratulations, Uros! :yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo;
There are quite a few members who received post-transplant dialysis as they waited for their kidney to wake up. Richard is one of them, and he just had his 2-year anniversary and seems to be perfectly stable. Chuck Norris, I love it. You've got yourself a fighter and once that kidney is up and running it will be a force to be reckoned with! Good to read this update and I look forward to hearing of your post-transplant adventures. The world awaits you, now go enjoy. :waving;
-
So glad to hear from you! Yes, the lazy kidney syndrome....
:bow;
I am hoping it settles down to work soon. :cuddle;

Congratulations! I hope your "lazy" kidney wakes up soon and you are back on your feet in no time:)
-
Excellent news! Hoping all goes well from here on. :clap;
-
CONGRATS! That's awesome. It was a bit of a road for me when I had mine but everyone is different. I craved chocolate chip cookies and Brussel sprouts after. LOL
Don't know why. Never forget your meds. Good luck!
-
Great!! You look good and I hope the kidney awakens and you don't need any more dialysis. Good luck Chuck! :2thumbsup;
-
Congratulations !! Hope you and Chuck share many years together :)

I'm so glad for you. It gives me new hope while waiting for my transplant, maybe I'll get the same call soon. Keep up the good luck.

Congrats my darling :flower;

Yippee for you and prayers to the donor and family. This is never an easy thing for either of you.
Hope it lasts a lifetime for you.
Drink a glass of milk for me!!
:cheer:

A little update.
My Chuck is still sleeping. ultrasound showed everything is perfect. On Monday I will have kidney biopsy to find out if kidney is just lazy or in acute renal failure. Doctors say not to worry, but I'm a little nervous. Ner ous is actually a mild word :rofl;
-
Fingers and toes crossed for you. Tell that lazy bean to WAKE UP!!!!
It's a good match, so it needs to get busy and do its job. If they say not to worry, then try not to. :cuddle;

-
Oi, Chuck! Awake and to work, lad!
Good luck, Uros. I am hoping that this is just a slow start to the marathon run you will get from this kidney.
-
Tomorrow I have kidney biopsy. I'm scared. Currently there are three people with non functioning kidney in my transplant centre. I have the longest stay.
Ok, I've read many articles about delayed graft function. It can take up to several weeks or even months especially if the donor wasn't ideal. Mine wasn't. He had a history of blood pressure for three years.
Nevertheless this is very frustrating for me. All this for nothing :puke;
-
I would be scared too. I'm so sorry this isn't going better. I hope the biopsy gives you ok news.

I understand your being scared. :cuddle;
But let's hope that this is not all for nothing. Stay as positive as you can because worry isn't good for you overall.
I'm still rooting for Chuck to start chugging away. :grouphug;

Uros - I'm sorry Chuck has decided he needs a longer nap before getting to work. It's hard not to worry when things don't go according to plan. Sending positive vibes you way for good news from the biopsy tomorrow :grouphug;.
-
I understand the frustration because my first transplanted kidney ( back in 1995) was a sleepy kidney as well. it had been pretty lazy for 3 weeks. doctor kept telling me do not worry but how could you not ... hope your biopsy went smoothly and give you a good result.

Results are here. I have acute cellular rejection. They will start treating me now. My odds are good as I was told.

Hope every thing goes OK. Fingers crossed.

Acute is much better than chronic - I think on balance the news is very hopeful. Fingers crossed for you, Uros. C'mon, Chuck! Start giving those toxins a drubbing!
-
send you the best energy man! keep positive, tell your body too that the kidney is a friend! everything will come great!
-
Fingers are crossed, Uros! :flower;
-
Good Luck Uros, Come on Chuck !! :boxing;
-
My dear friends,
My body completely rejected the kidney. The kidney goes out next week.
Devastated.
-
Uros - I'm so sorry to hear your news. :grouphug;
-
So sorry to hear that. Hopefully next time will be more successful.
-
Oh, Uros, not the outcome any of us wanted for you. :'(
Take care of yourself, and I do so hope you get a second chance soon. :grouphug;
-
very sorry for this news. We all had so much hope. Sending love and best wishes for another chance very soon... :grouphug;
-
I am so very sorry.
Did they ever figure out WHY so they can address that next time?
Aleta
-
So sorry....
-
GoingThere, I am so very sorry this has happened to you. You poor boy it must be devastating for you, to wait for so long and then this to happen. .Have they said why? Hope you don't have to wait to long for another chance.
-
They are suprised becAuse the midney was a good match. They say I have a very strong immune system. But they reclassified my rejecton from severe to moderate IIa. They also suspect I have humoral rejection. The plan is to use plasmapheresis and medrol pulses. Also OKT3 is in game, but this is suppose to be very toxic.
I will try a little bit more but not for any cost. I had a good life on dialysis.
Uros
-
I'm sorry this happened. I think I would be devistated. You sound like you're coping better than anyone could expect. :grouphug;
-
I am really saddened to hear this news. Like Deanne said, you seem to be coping pretty well, but then again, we're communicating by mere computer. Your face may tell a very different story. I just hope that physically you are OK and that you will get a second chance if you want it.
Good luck with the surgery to remove the kidney. We are all thinking of you and are here to help in any way we can.
-
Darn it. That sucks. :grouphug; At least you were alright on dialysis, and if all those photos of you riding your bike were anything to go by, then yes you weren't too bad on the big D. Though if you are like other human beings, your positive approach to going back to dialysis probably comes and goes. You can't ever predict how these things are going to turn out, and maybe dialysis is a better option for you than really harsh attempts to keep the kidney? The main thing is that you keep your pragmatism and take things as they come. We are all here for you dear Uros.
-
I really wish things had worked out better for you. Please keep us updated. Still hoping the treatment will work.
-
many hugs to you and prayers. Hang in there and bless that attitude of yours.. I wish a whole lot of good to come to you :grouphug;
-
Sorry things didn't work out for you. At least you are on top of the list so another should be coming to you soon. Hang in there for the next time you will shine. 8)
-
:( that's awful, so very sorry. :cuddle;
-
Oh dear GoingThere, so sorry to hear your news, and wishing you all the best, and strength with those treatments. It could work, I hope of course it works.
good luck, and lots of love Cas
-
Oh my goodness GT - I am quite heartbroken for you at this situation... i can't even begin to imagine how you've felt over this rollercoaster and the result.
my thoughts are with you at this difficult time. I know you are strong and a fighter - you will bounce back but right now, this is so very tough.
-
I am so sorry. I pray you will get another kidney and it will take. Hang in there. Love & light!
-
I'm so sorry :grouphug; :grouphug;
-
So sorry that Chuck didn't work out :grouphug;
-
Well, finally some good news. After 6 sessions of PE+ivig, 2xATG, Chuck kicked in. Currently my creatinine level is 2.41 and I'm off dialysis for 14 days.
I will still get 3xPE and maybe 1 ATG, though ATG probably won't happen cause I have a hard response on this drug. 2 pulses of ATG lasted a week and my immune system didn't exists. I hope I won't have bad consequences in the future.
GT

This sounds *much* more encouraging, Uros! Long may it continue! :yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo;
Best wishes and highest hopes that Chuck keeps doing his job and that you can put this whole ordeal behind you soon!
-
Hip hip!!!!!
:yahoo;
That IS good news.
Aleta

How are you feeling? You've been through so much emotionally too x
-

May the good news continue in the new year!!!
Lots of love, and strength Cas

:2thumbsup;
-
Great news, Uros... :yahoo;
You and Chuck will make a lovely couple!....
Happy New Year...
Darth...
-
yes wow that is unexpected as it seemed like it was all over for Chuck... but hopefully this IS a happy new year for you indeed GT!!
fingers crossed...
-
:yahoo; Sure rooten for you and sayen prayers that all will turn out just great for you. I wish you so much goodness and a beautiful life... :grouphug;
-
Glad things are looking up for you!! :2thumbsup; Did they have to do the OKT3? I had that when my first tx rejected. Horrible, horrible stuff. Made me the sickest I've ever been (even temporary blindness) but it worked like a charm. I'm wishing the best for you and your tough little kidney!!
-
After 10 PE and IVIG my creatinine level is stable at 2.4 (BUN is almost normal). I'm not satisfied with the current level, but doctors keep telling me that creatinine will drop slowly in the future. My Tx is a rollercoaster. I can hardly wait to go home in start riding my bike. :bow;
Lexxtech - no, I didn't get OKT3, I got ATG. Also very strong medicine. I got fever and headache.
What do you think about my creatinine level?
Uros
-
Your creatinine level isn't perfect but it's not that bad. Lots of people out there have that level, many don't even know it. If you feel ok and your docs aren't upset, don't worry too much. You already try to stay healthy. Just keep doing that.
-
yes mine took a few months to get down to the1.4-1.5 level it is at now. give it time. Every day off D is a bonus right? Try to not be impatient with it.. hopefully it will get under 2 and all will be good :)
-
Congratulations on your transplant! I also have IGA, I got a 4/6 match kidney from my brother in 2006 and it took about a month for my creatin to get from 2.1 to 0.9 My doctors were not worried. :cheer:
-
I had my first checkup yesterday. Creatinine went a little bit down: 2.3 and Hb is normal so I won't need EPO shots. Yupppiiiiiii :clap;
-
:clap; fingers crossed! The best of luck! I wish I was called for one..I have a feeling that they go through the whole kidney list then start at the beginning so everyone on the kidney list gets called at least once then they start back at the top...? umm...Your lucky...
Rivy
-
:2thumbsup; time and patience........... and prayer ;) :grouphug;
-
Yay! Things are looking up GT! :cuddle;
-
Am so glad things are looking up after all youve been through....praying that kidney gets better and better!! Xx
-
No Epo, something more to celebrate! :yahoo; I'm so happy things are turning around for you, I know the treatments have been rough. Here's to nothing but good news from now on! :wine;
