Title: Nausea
Post by: AnnieB on November 18, 2012, 08:38:11 PM
I've felt pretty crappy the last few days. Went on retreat last week, and didn't watch my diet, pretty much ate what they gave us...but I did drink too much coffee, and not much water (and I'm supposed to stay hydrated), so maybe this is a result? I am planning to get my labs done tomorrow, so will hopefully find out what's going on. Up til now, the main symptom I've had has been fatigue. The nausea is new.  :P Doesn't bode well, I know that nausea is one of the signs of decreasing function. I've been going back and forth between stage 4 and 5, and I'm just hoping I haven't slid into stage 5 over the last month.  :(

I'd wait for the labs to come back before getting too worried about it. You may have just picked up a bug. Are you retaining fluid? Still urinating? Does it look like your ankles and feet are swelling? These are all signs that you've progressed to the next stage. The nausea is there too, but it can come from a number of things, so need to look at the whole picture. Again, your labs will tell.

Well, don't seem to have any other signs...so I guess it's possible I picked something up. Went this morning for labs, so I should find out within a day or two. Also mentioned this to my neph's nurse, so he'll know my concerns. I am really trying to keep my kidneys going until at least my Medicare kicks in next year. Though if I can a preemptive transplant, this may not be an issue  since Medicare is retroactive under those circumstances.  :pray;

Guess I must have picked up a bug while on retreat. I got my labs back, and they are about the same - some are even improved! Creatinine holding not too different from the last time at 3.31, BUN is actually lower this time at 51. eGFR is 14, last one was 15. Hemoglobin and hematocrit, platelets  are actually a bit better than before. RBCs are down, though. Phos is good. All in all, a big relief, since I thought from how grotty I was feeling that everything was a lot worse. Guess it's just a virus.  :puke;

Forgot to add, Potassium is also within limits.
