I saw a post earlier that made me decide that maybe it wasn't stupid after all to ask this. I have these..... I'm not sure what to call them.... they look kinda like a boil i guess, that come up in tender spots. They are just raised red skin at first then they turn purple and hurt like he**. When they bust the drainage is what looks like infection and old blood, and when it finely heals usually leaves behind a purple scar. Dose any one else have this problem? Is it CKD related or should i have it checked out? Thanks for any info.

I would have it checked out. never heard of that being CKD related.

Sounds like you are suffering from cysts. I had these for years, and don't think they have anything to do with our kidney disease. Get an appointment with a dermatologist and have them check them out. The good thing is that, as I've aged, they have lessened in frequency to the point I only get one or two a year now. If they are too bothersome, I go in and have my regular Doc lance them so they drain and go away.
Good luck!

Peaches, where are they appearing on the body? I would not second guess, but instead have them checked out.

The toxins sweating through your skin can turn normal pimples into boils pretty easily, so no, it's not all that uncommon. I got them a lot in that last stretch before I started D. You should bring them up to your doc though, in case it's related to a calcium build-up instead. Hot compresses can bring them to a head sooner, and you might want to try some Mederma to make the scars less visible, too. I did lance some of the worst ones - they can hurt a lot in some spots!

Thanks guys and M3Riddler they usually show up on my lower stomach and inner thighs.

I had a few of those under the arms. I squeeze them, and they burst over the bathroom mirror making a hell of a mess. I don't get them very often. Some are easier to squeeze out than others.

This sounds like what I get also on my chest, lower abdomen and/or inner thighs. The cysts (or whatever they are) aren't like normal pimples--they are more fatty and full of blood. I think it's related to my EPO injections. After getting my first EPO shots soon after starting D I broke out and looked like I had chicken pox. Eventually my HgB went up and I was taken off the EPO and the cysts tapered off. About 6 months later my EPO was started again and the cysts came back. This pattern has continued for 2 years but has been "less bad" each cycle.
