Hello friends, nice to see you again :)
I'm 23 years old as some you might know, and well since a year and some months I've been on dialysis, for an unknown cause :/ I still urinate well in quantity, but not in quality. Hemoglobin level is in 13.5 naturally, without the need of EPO.
I'm using nocturnal cycler of Fresenius, 4 cycles to be more exact, 9 hours. I wanted to ask you if anyone of you leads a cat life? By this I mean that even though I feel energy to go to the gym 3 times a week even to lift weights, to play football, and to go partying, I still feel sleepy for most part of the day? this feeling is stronger when I remain at home. I wake up at 10 am, and by 3 pm I feel very sleep already lol. Is this because of the toxins?
I feel like I'm in a competition with my cats, for who sleeps the most :D
p.s. BUN and creatinine levels are "ok" for dialysis, dont indicate im uremic.

When I was on PD, I was tired all the time. Some of us have energy on dialysis and some of us don't. Don't beat yourself up about it. Get the rest you need.

Well, there's also stuff like vitamin levels, hormone levels like testosterone and estrogen, and underactive thyroid glands, which you can ask about and have checked. Don't forget the most basic question of all - how well are you sleeping at night? How often is the machine beeping at you? Are you constantly waking up to alarms? What about sleep apnea? Deviated septum? Nine hours in bed at night is not the same as nine good hours of sleep! Honestly, I needed more sleep than 9 hours a night to function when I was on D, and even with a transplant, I still need almost 10 to function really well. Without functioning kidneys, things aren't going to work as well.

I find that I like to take a short nap in the afternoon. This after working Putin the morning and doing other chores around the house. So what you need. This thing is tough enough without pushing yourself even harder.

Some days are better than others for me. Usually after dialysis I am wiped out and usually end up sleeping it off. Dont give yourself too hard a time. Remember even with dialysis we still have a high level of toxicity.

Some days are better than others. I have days where I stay in bed all day and others where I just need to take a nap and be okay after that. My energy levels are definitely not what they used to be, but are better since changing to HHD from in-center HD. While I was in-center I had no energy at all and spent more time in bed than out of it.

As you can see, most of us do suffer from being tired and run down. As mentioned it could be a number of things, but most likely the combination of all of them. Dialysis is hard on the body and you do need your sleep. Me - I work 12 hours days (including commutes) get home about 5pm - do an exchange on the cycler - eat a bit of supper and fall asleep. Wake up about 7:30 to start the cycler again - fall asleep again. Wake up about 1 1/2 later. Repeat this through the night until time to get up for work. I don't get the sleep I need and do feel it as the day goes on. But I'm still here and trying. Grumpy

Partying? If you party half as hard as I did you need to take it easy.

I'm a sleeper lol. its a blessing during a 4 hour HD session , as im usually needing woke up to go home , but not so much fun when there's stuff to do.
Id say just go with what you need , and dont feel guilty about it . we all deal with this in our own ways.

I can sleep any time almost anywhere.

I feel the same way. 1st time around I was on dialysis I could still work and be fine. This time around on dialysis days I sleep during treatment come home sleep another 4 or 5 hours then at night I will sleep another 10 to 12 hours. I have very few days where I don't sleep most of the day away. Each of us is different as mentioned but the way I see if your tired sleep. I have read articles that if you limit your sleep to 8 hours a night and try to exercise about 30 minutes a day it might help you physically and mentally to wear you won't be as tired. Best wishes
