What was your way of transportation to your Dialysis Center. Mine was close to home so I was able to walk. Getting back was a problem when at times my Blood Pressure would drop and someone would have to pick me up. Is your center close by and was there any difficulties arranging transportation?

Mine was an hour away - ah, the joys of rural living. It was a death trap route during the summer with the crazy tourists, and even worse in the winter with Michigan weather. The time I spent on home hemo was wonderful. When I couldn't do NxStage anymore, I managed to get an open spot at at closer unit, which only had 3 chairs. It was still nearly half an hour, sometimes more, depending on the traffic across the Mackinaw Bridge, and the weather. Except for the first couple of weeks on dialysis, I drove myself. It wasn't usually a problem, as I could always pull over and rest if I needed to.
Hopefully, I won't need it any time soon because of my transplant, but my new house is less than a mile from the nearest center, and the bus stop is at the end of my street, so I only have about half a block to walk to get there at each end of the trip. I house-shopped in the neighborhood I did to be close to the centers and hospitals, as well as the area I was most likely to get a job.

I drove myself to my center and then home. It was about a half hour from work to my center, but only two stop signs from my center to home. ;D

I'm very lucky that they opened a new clinic nearby, where I drive to (say 5 mins) Before that I drove myself in, and out 1 hour each way, which was terrible. I had 3 minor crashes.

I've had to get rides in the past and ride the stupid short bus, but now I live close enough to drive myslef. I could walk if I didn't have so much stuff. It takes me 3 trips from my car!

I have been on in-center dialysis for 4 years and drive myself the 30 miles to the hospital. On good weather days I ride my motorcycle.
