Just got sent home from dialysis. We're waiting for a phone call from my dialysis center .The head nurse want me to have my fistula check out.She think I might need to have a fistulagram done.Sure hoping to get it done 2day or early 2morrow morning. At least the head nurse & the techs were nice to me.Iknew this day was coming sooner or later.

I've got one scheduled for early August after my center nurses listened to it and thought it was high pitched which shows possible narrowing. Went to vascular surgeon. He disagreed, but told me that fistulagram was a good idea. Why? Once you get a full fledged clot, even if its opened, the life expectancy of that fistula drops. So, he explained, better to check now than when a full fledged clot occurs. Sounds logical to me.
The Lesson? Needing a fistulagram isn't necessarily a guarantee you have a real problem.

I had them done on average about every 6 weeks. It was a pain, but the fistulagram itself wasn't that bad. I made it clear I didn't want to be coherent at all while they were doing it, and they happily doped me up on Versed and let me doze. The ironing board they use for a table to put you on during the procedure is more painful than the ballooning!

At this moment,so far we haven't heard Nothing.I'm still hoping for early 2morrow morning or early 2morrow afternoon to have this check.Main thing it will be done & taken care of untill the next time.My boyfriend has been near the phone since his computer is very close to the phone.I've been out doing some yard work to pass the time away.
