Title: I thought I was the only one in my family?!
Post by: Annig83 on July 04, 2012, 06:54:05 PM
I am so worried about my mother.  She called me yesterday, and reported a creatinine level of 1.75 that orignally was 1.5 3 days ago... She's tired all the time and has to nap during the day.  But that's the only real symptom.  She's seeing a neph. next week.   I am super worried about her.  She has already told me multiple times that she always feels guilty about my kidney disease... I always tell her that there was nothing she could have done... now, if she gets diagnosed with something along the lines of what I have, I fear she will be worse.  My parents just moved 8 hours away to NC from where I am in Indianapolis... I know I am sick, but I want to be there with her.  :(

May I ask how old she is? As people age their function often declines. When my grandmother died her creatinine was up to 2.8 but she died of something else. We never even had her see a nephrologist. For that change I would make sure she is hydrated and get it retested. Hopefully it's an anomaly.

She's 66, I'm hoping that it was a mistake.

Decrease in renal function is not uncommon in people getting older.  Please try not to panic, although I understand why you would. :cuddle;

I agree with everybody above, please tell her to drink more. Older people (even my mum for crying out loud) tent to drink less so they go less to the toilet (for some weird reason)
