Does anyone know how hard or how to go about moving from one state to another while reciving both medicare and medicaid ?? I recive both and as you know not having medicaid treatments are wicked expensive I am thinking of moving from mass. to maine . I have asked my social worker at the Hosp. but she is rather inept and has just moved from another state so she doesn't know the laws in Mass. These are mt only two forms of insurance and I am stuck in mass while all my friend and family reside in maine .

Medicare shouldn't a problem - you just have to update your address, I think. I moved in-state, but I just updated my info online.
Why don't you call the local Medicaid (or MaineCare- I just looked it up online) office where you plan to move, and find out if there's a length of time you have to be in the state to qualify? I just looked at the app they provide online, and didn't see any question regarding the length of time you've lived in the state.

Both Medicare and Medicaid have 800 numbers you can call for questions. Sounds like you are going to have to do the calling, since your social worker sounds like a flake!

Hooray! Sounds like moving is within your grasp. I'm sure it won't be that easy, either, but the nice thing about not knowing what obstacles there might be is that you can just tackle anything as it comes up, rather than looking at the whole, daunting journey and feeling overwhelmed. Take the first step and you'll be there before you know it.

Barry, Cariads right, you just have to take things one day at a time. I know it is so easy to get caught up in the "what ifs' and "oh no's" of life, but as my Grandma use to tell me many times. "don't trouble trouble, till trouble troubles you!" Good advise, and one that I sometimes fail to apply in my life on occasions.
Just don't rush into things, with out some assurances along the way! Sounds like your headed in the right direction! Slow n steady, Barry!
God Bless,

Hiya Barry. I have experience in this field of dialysis. It seems like you found out the info you needed though, so yay! I moved from Ohio to Indiana.... Indiana to Alaska.....and finally Alaska back to Ohio. Pretty much all you need to do is close out Medicaid in Mass and file for it in Maine immediately so you get covered quickly. It's a huge pain in the butt, but once you do it a couple of times you stop noticing. I'm 34 as well! We should be best friends!! :2thumbsup;
