Title: Yesterday
Post by: Sandi1313 on June 29, 2012, 07:38:20 AM
Hello once again my friends, ;)
Yesterday 2ward the end of my dialysis session,I started having those darn painful muscle cramps in my legs.I had raised my hand to get the attention of the head nurse.Cause I had wanted her to know that I was having muscle cramps.So I could sit up.She acted like I had committed a CRIME.I had been told to let the staff know whenever I'm having those painful muscle cramps.Now here's an idea that I have.Maybe there should be a bell or buzzer to use(on each recliner) to let the staff know whenever a patient is having those muscle cramps.So one of the staff can help that patient.The staff should know which patients have muscle cramps so they can watch these patients more closely.There are times that I do HATE DIALYSIS.Especially when one of the staff acts like us dialysis patients are COMMITTING a CRIME cause we have those painful muscle cramps.Inwhich all the staff will do is NOTHING.But get the patient sitting up.Has this happen to anyone else?There are times that I'm AFRAID to go to dialysis.I thought the staff are suppose to treat ALL patients iwith RESPECT.I'm probably wrong.I kow most of them are there for the money$$.

Sandy,
The ideal thing would be for you to be able to tell them prior to treatment how much water to pull off.   This requires you to be tuned in to issue of course.   Might reduce pulling off too much.

Jeeeez, pulling off too much water or too fast happens despite the best of intentions.     I can't imagine why a tech or an RN would have an issue with this common problem.

I strongly agree there should be a nurse call button or an alarm to go off.Whenever we need some extra HELP.Sometimes,I think the staff takes an extra long break.So they don't have to put up with us dialysis patients.I think each dialysis patient should have a small trash can right next to their recliner.I think the staff should give us patients alittle bit more attention.After all,they NEED us to be there.In order to make the place & them look good.If all of us dialysis patients are suppose to be at dialysis  for each of our session.I think entire staff should have to be THERE as well.This includes"the manager,the dietian & the social worker as well.Thanks for listening to mine 2 cents :twocents; :twocents;

Glad that most Dclinics in the UK do have those 'inventions' since I can remember. Most of the time they work too
