Title: arm size
Post by: bansix on June 18, 2012, 07:49:04 PM
Does anyone else with their fistula in their bicep think that arm is getting bigger?
I'm just not sure if I'm clotted again (since treatment is going somewhat well) or if my left are is just growing, due to the extra blood flow and stuff.

I'm on PD, but I can safely tell you that after having a blood clot in my right arm, mine is still lots larger than my left and it was over 1 1/2 years ago that it occured.  Clots can screw everything up

3 years since dialysis - and my left arm is still bigger.  Losing weight doesn't change it - they both get smaller at the same rate.  I have grafts, so between the extra tubing, the scar tissue from multiple surgeries, and all the swelling from the changing blood flow, I figure it's never going to shrink back.  I wear 3/4 length sleeves to hide the scars anyhow, so no one else ever sees it.

Should get it checked out, because it can mean that there are some problems with the fistula higher up

My shirt size use to be small but I need a large now just because I have huge arms and I don't want to wear tight clothes around my fistula.
