Title: Charting
Post by: ChrisEtc on May 29, 2012, 08:03:33 PM
Has anyone ver asked to read the charting that has been done over period of time?  I have someone at my clinic that I frankly don't trust anymore and it's a real concern for me what is being charted.

I asked to get a copy of my medical records once from my first center I did not like. It cost me tho, but got all my labs (no smilet faces there), notes and all. $120 and I have only looked at them once, but thought I might need them down the line.

You are allowed by law to see your records under......darn t, drawing blank on name now. Just ask someone you like there or the manager.

Good Luck

It might be the FOI - Freedom of Information Act that you're thinking of.

Yes you have the right to have copies of your records. And they also have the right to charge you a reasonable copying fee. Since our charts are large, even 5 cents a page can add up. Consider limiting the dates of your first request. You can always go back for more.

HIPPA, HIPPA was the answer we were looking for  :rofl;
Anyway, according to the HIPPA seminar I attended, we are allowed to see our records
