My neph did it again. He set me up with this Psychologist I wasn't sure about this guy since my last Psycholgist led me to stray so to peak. Those of you know I am scared of needles don't have anything to do with them.The people who tried to help me at my soon to be ex D center are not there no more had to look else where for help with no prevail. Well today I met this Dr and he floored me He himself was a needle phobic in his younger years when he told me that I almost fell out of the chair I was setting in. I could not believe I was talking to a guy that knows where I am coming from. Understands my fear and is willing to help me overcome it. He is going to try Desensitization then when or if I am ready take me down stairs in his office where they do lab work and have me get stuck shivers just thinking about it but that is later down the road. I believe my new Neph understands my fear so what surprises does he have for me now? :yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo; :bandance; :bandance; :bandance;

Needlephobic, you are on one wonderful roll of luck. Have some faith, if this guy says he knows what you are going thru and can help you, go for it. I am happy for you.!!!

So glad for you, needlephobic! All the best to you.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day...sounds like you found someone who you/he can relate to. Give him a chance, really, what do you have to lose...
Call it fate, chance or higher power, you can't turn a blind eye to the coincidence

Fabulous news, NP! :2thumbsup;
I had a student who was also quite needle phobic. He learned how his mother used the signals in the car to see if she were taking him to the doctor's office when he was quite young. That could have been you!
This new guys sounds like a good match for you. I hope things start to turn around for you. :cuddle;

I'm very glad to hear that things are starting to go your way with medical professionals! Dialysis is bad enough without not trusting your unit or doctors. I hope things continue to improve for you! :bandance;

Thanks guys I am so happy to find a caring neph that has gone beyond the call of duty. By not only setting me up with a Psychologist but has talked with the guy personally about me to see if he could help me with my phobia. When he told me he was needle phobic at one time I was stunned and I couldn't believe my ears that I started crying. Finally someone who understands my fear and knows where I am coming from. and finally a neph who answers my question and also understands my phobia. There is light at the end of the tunnel for me. Still waiting to get into the new D center and watch out staff better treat me right or my neph will chew your butt (BTW my new neph is also on the kidney transplant team at the hospital where his office is.) :bandance; :bandance; :bandance; :bandance; :yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo; :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup; :clap; :clap; :clap; BTW his nurse calls me every week to keep me updated with the new D center and to see if I am doing ok that's kinda cool.

Thanks guys this has been a long road for me. Things are really looking good right now. I made it in my new D center today. The staff is wonderful and they work with me not against me. They will be helping me with my phobia too. They gave me much needed info which I should have got when I started D. More info coming Thursday getting a lot of reading stuff.

Oh, needlephobic, I am SOOOO happy for you! This has been such a long time coming and I am so relieved that there is finally light at the end of the tunnel for you. No one deserves it more. What a difference a new neph can make, and a new unit. My jaw nearly hit the floor when you said your new psych used to be needle phobic himself... what are the odds?!? I probably would have cried, too.
Doing a happy dance for you over here! :bandance;

You know, you have been so resilient, and now you are entitled to some reward. Good for you for not giving up, even when surrender was so tempting. I'm thrilled that you have a new neph and a new team that are more in tune with your needs. I look forward to hearing even more good news from you!

Yes Desert Dancer been a long time coming. I was in total shock when my new psych said he was needle phobic and his story he told me and how it was what I have been going through just made me cry with relief that there is somebody that knows my fear. The odds that is what is weird was told there was a lot of calling can't remember how many days until this psych was contacted and has gone through what I have gone through. I have avoided Dr's offices and Hospitals cause of my phobia. Was told by my bro and sis I didn't love my parents when they were in the hospital do to my fear but I did just couldn't make myself go in the hospital and see them with the IV in there arms (((((shivers))))) and nurses coming in to give shots ((((shivers)))) just thinking about that.

Well had my second meeting with my neph just gets better and better. He checked me from head to toe told me my labs look good blood pressure was high told me to check it at home. Wants me to be relaxed at the D center no more arguing with the staff he said if I have a prob with the staff or my chest cath give him a call. Got a neph in my corner now . We also talked about kidney transplant. It is so cool to have a neph on the transplant team. Forgot my long list of questions to ask him he said bring it next time but that shocked look on his face when I told him about my long list of questions was priceless guess he wasn't expecting that. What can you expect been in the dark for over 2 years now there is light at the end of the tunnel. :bandance; :bandance; :bandance; :yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo; :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup; :2thumbsup; :clap; :clap; :clap; :clap; :clap;
