We got the call from our nephew this afternoon that Carl's sister had taken her life. Our brother-in-law found her when he got home from work today. She had been on dialysis for about 6 years, but had much trouble. Her bones were like egg shells and the day before Carl's transplant she broke both hips when she missed her chair and hit the floor. Although she had a willing donor lined up for a paired exchange, she was deemed too weak to survive the surgery.
She was in lots of pain and I think it just became too much.
I hate this disease.
When death comes into our lives, it is important to take stock, though. Life is sweet and precious. Live each day and be glad for each morning that you wake up and have another day to enjoy.
RIP Deborah. Your fight is over. I wish you could have had an easier path like your brother. I know it was hard for you to see him lead such a healthy life despite kidney failure. It wasn't fair that you suffered so much. I also wish you had found your way here for the support you could have found. I knew that if I told you about IHD, you never would have visited, but I did tell your dear husband. I do wish things could have been better for you.

Oh, Aleta, I'm so sorry. :grouphug;

How terribly sad, Aleta...
May she rest in peace...
Darth...
God saw the road was getting rough,
The hill was hard to climb;
He gently closed those loving eyes
And whispered “Peace Be Thine.”
The weary hours, the days of pain,
The sleepless nights have passed;
The ever patient worn-out frame
Has found sweet rest at last.
God Saw that you were weary
So He did what He knows best.
He came and stood beside you,
And whispered, “Come and rest.”
You bid no one a last farewell,
Not even a goodbye.
You were gone before we knew it,
And only God knows why.

That's hard news Aleta. :grouphug; :grouphug; Thinking of you and Carl.

Aleta, I'm so sorry to hear about the death of your sister-in-law. Life IS sweet and precious, as you have wisely said. Deborah was part of this community, whether she joined or not. In that sense, your loss is our loss too. God bless you and Carl.

I wanted to offer my condolences. It can be a fine line between when life is worth living and when it's not - I'm sorry to hear she crossed that line.
-
Aleta my heart is with you and your loved ones. It's so sad :grouphug;
-
Moe *huggles* for both of you.
-
Poppy, thanks for the huggles, and more of them..... That means so much.
And everyone, kidney failure affects all of us.... we need to stand strong against it. :cuddle;

We just heard from our niece. There is not going to be a funeral. And oh, the irony. All of our brother-in-law's family will be visiting for his son's wedding on Saturday. So sad.
Plugger, I so get what you are saying..... She had a very hard time of it, and I realize that it just got to be more than she could bear.
She had been giving hints that her husband took as casual comments.....
Thanks everyone for caring.
