It seems like a lot of people on this site are really depressed right now. Even very seriously depressed. I can't help but wonder if the frequency and severity has something to do with the lingering doldrums of February. When I was younger I suffered from serious, severe depression. It was always the worst in Feb and March. Of course, I didn't realize that until I'd lived through it for a few years. Truly, I was suicidal in February every year. Becoming aware of this, after surviving it, made it easier to survive each time around. I want others to be cognizant that sometimes just waiting will bring change. But I would never hesitate to use medication or counseling, or whatever would help. To everyone who's down, please hold out. Spring will come early this year.
I do not say this to be trite. It's just when you're really depressed, and then bad events start piling on, it's possible for something as gently cruel as a snowfall to tip the scales. But snow melts, and maybe the scales can tip back.

Its because of the holidays (thanksgiving christmas channika(sp) new years, valentines day) alot of people dont have family or loved ones or friends... add to that the very crappy winter weather... add to that, especially for people here, dealing iwth bad health...
yep... this time of year sucks. I should SHOULD be perfectly happy right now, it seems everything is "going my way" but ive noticed my depression is peaking aswell. I am struggling, but i am fortunate to have dealt with depression for most of my life, so i know there is a light at the end of the tunnel, my train is just moving a bit too slow right now...
The trick is fighting one more day. Each day is a new day and we DO have the power to change. It is hard, but nothing worth having is easy, right?

I think it's called SAD syndrome. Southern hemisphere has it July and August. Something to do with lack of sunlight or something.
Just googled it - Seasonal Affective Disorder

fearless, I to hate the months of Feb and March, they can be depressing months. Spring is not so far off, can not wait.

I truly believe hubby suffers from SADS (seasonal affective disorder). He always gets depressed during January, February and March and sometimes later in the spring. Actually we don't really get spring here very often - just a continuation of winter :beer1;

I get worse in Jan and Feb. But knowing that's what is happening helps me to get through it. I hope spring comes soon.
