My husband's graft is clotted again. This is the 3rd time! He has only had the graft for 2 months. He woke up this morning and could feel "the thrill". I couldn't feel it either, so he drove to the dialysis center. They checked the graft, and it is not working. He is still at the dialysis center and they are trying to figure out what to do next.
He had it de-clotted 4 days ago and the doctor put him on Plavix. The night before last, I noticed that my husband was sleeping on the same side as his graft. It is in his upper left arm. I told him to roll over and he did. Last night, before we went to bed, he said he didn't sleep well the previous night because I wore him up to get him to roll over. Last night, he as sleeping on his left side again. I didn't wake him up, and now I am kicking myself!

Sorry. . . I meant to say he "couldn't" feel the trill.

What a huge bummer. If they get it straightened out, he will need to learn a new sleeping position. :embarassed:

I've had many many clotting issues with mine as well. I see it as it's a graft, not a fistula and it's a peace of junk.

Here is an update:
My husband had to go to the surgical center where they inserted a perma cath in his chest. He has an appointment a week from today with the surgeon who put the graft in his arm.
My husband has such a positive attitude. I came home from work and he was cooking! He made 3 meals for the weekend: Baked chicken, chicken fajitas, and panned chicken. He was actually in a good mood! He told me he had joked with the nurses at the surgical center. He told them that they should have a drive-up window for him because he is there so often! His positive attitude is comforting to me and such a blessing.

Awww. Thanks, Boswife. :cuddle; My husband said he could either laugh or cry. Today he chose to laugh. I am so very thankful for his positive attitude. :bow;

I always tell the nurses they need to have a wing of the hospital named after me.
