Title: Petition to extend Medicare Coverage Post Transplant
Post by: willowtreewren on February 12, 2012, 10:37:11 AM
Carl was lucky. When he got his transplant, he wa less than three years away from being eligible for Medicare. But younger transplant recipients will lose their Medicare coverage for anti-rejection drugs after three years. That is a CRAZY policy.

Here is a petition to encourage Congress to extend the coverage:

I know 3 years after my kidney transplant I will be back working so I think 3 years is plenty for me.

Even people who are working should support this because there's no guarantee that your insurance will cover it.  Plus, fewer and fewer companies are even offering insurance these days.  Those drugs are very expensive.   Coverage is often inadequate for people who aren't rich, regardless of work or insurance.
