I'm just wondering about when is the best time to take sensipar. My parathyroid is apparently extremely high so my doctor prescribed me sensipar to lower my parathyroid. I've been taking it before I go to bed the past couple of days. Is that a good time to take it, or should I take it some time during the day? I do peritoneal dialysis every night. Would it drain out the sensipar if I took it every night?

ask the doctor when you should take it

I did PD for years and was always, told to take sensipar at night.

I am doing PD, and have just started taking Sensipar. I was told to take it with my evening meal.

I took sensipar while on CAPD. Dr never suggested a time to take it.
PD nurses did tell me to take it with or close to the heaviest or fattiest meal in order to avoid stomach upset.
I worked nights and slept during the day. I took it right before I took my morning nap, only because it didn't upset my stomach if I was lying down.

I do not believe that D leeches out sensipar. What I do know is that it can react with some things, specially calcitricol and I was advised to NOT take them together as the sensipar would not be so effective, so I took the cal at lunchtime, and the sensipar in the evening - sometimes I took it with the meal and my other meds, but I generally tried to take it later so binders or whatever would be done with (not that I thought there was a reaction, but just to keep it kind of seperate).

Richard,
I had no idea about this.
I suppose that's the reasonmy Dr had me take sensipar on the days I didn't take calcitriol and vice versa.

I make sure to take Sensipar after a full meal so it doesn't upset my stomach as much. If I take it right before bed, I wake up with bad reflux.
