Title: graft clotted again but may not be the fault of the graft
Post by: sullidog on January 21, 2012, 05:03:53 PM
This morning, I woke up, graft had a good thrill, then when I went to dialysis the thrill in bruit were gone, so thank goodness I still had my catheter so we used it, about an hour and half before my treatment ended my system clotted off, so we have the graft clotted, and now the whole dialyser system, how ironic! so we are wondering if my platelets could be high causing all of these clotting issues today. They changed my dialyzer and lines and rest of treatment went fine. Monday I will see my v surgeon so we'll see what he says, they had not done a platelet drawl yet on me. I just think it's weird my access has been working fine since it was declotted last month and now all the sudden more then my access is clotting.

I will keep you posted, I know he told me if it shuts down again he'd put in a new one, but if my clotting factors are high I don't want him putting in a new one and the same thing happen so I will have those checked first.

Are you taking any blood thinners?  J. use to long time ago have clotting problems, but when VS prescribed plavix, there has been no more clottings!

Ask your Vasc. Surg.  He/she will certainly know if it is warranted.  They may prescribe something else too! But then it may be different for grafts, I don't know, but a clot is a clot, IMO.

Keep us posted
