I have a Urology appointment to discuss my "complex cyst" in mid-February. Has anyone any light to shed on this type of thing?
-
sounds complicated! ;)
but sorry no. I have no idea what that even is

I did some research on my own, and it looks like they can be very painful and lead to cancer. But I also found out they are usually handled with an hour-and-half surgery with a high success rate using laprascopy.

Wow Whamo, what are the symptoms you are having?
-
Well, now...you wouldn't want to have a boring "simple" cyst, would you? :P
-
No wordplay about complex cysts from me--mine was very painful, but receded without surgery. All the best to you, Whamo.

Hi,
Not sure if you want to hear my complex cyst story or not. I have PKD and was getting ready for a live donor transplant. Had a CT and it showed complex cysts. The neph called me up and told me straight out that I had renal cancer and would have to wait 18 mths for a transplant. I then waited 2mths for a follow up CT with contrast and that showed I didnt have cancer. A couple months later they decided I needed yet another CT because they were wrong and said I had cancer again. This went on for about a year and only after I had my nephrectomy I was totally cleared of the cancer diagnoses. I guess what I am trying to say is I don't think they really know if a complex cyst is cancerous or not. Not sure if you have PKD or not but my neph told me that many people with PKD and complex cysts have kidney cancer. Not trying to scare you, but that's been my experience with cysts.
