Title: hand kink
Post by: Riverwhispering on January 05, 2012, 03:52:34 PM
I've been experiencing this weird thing a few times lately.   Out of no where my hand that is on the arm of my AV fistula kinda kinks up a bit where the little finger is.  It doesn't hurt at all but gets all twisty, I can undo it using my other hand but it goes right back to that kink.   I then work the hand opening and closing it a few times and the kink goes away.

Anyone else experience that and know what's causing it?   Like I mentioned, it doesn't hurt just feels weird.

Search "trigger finger" on here.  There are quite few articles and discussions about it.  It's a pretty common symptom for D patients.  If it's really painful, there are steroid shots they can put in the joints to help it go away faster.

J's fingers do weird things too.  VS says it because very little blood flow due to placement of fistula.  Is your fistula around the wrist of your arm? J's runs from wrist to almost elbow.  It was explained to us that some veins were cut and attached to form the fistula.  It is just something he gets use to, but if it get to much to bear, then let doc know.

God Bless,

I get these cramps quite often, especially after working on small parts of something I am repairing. Very annoying when trying to type or drink a cup of tea. I also have a finger tip that has gone numb. Oh, the stuff we have to put up with because of this disease.

Mine is not so much a KINK as it is just a short stabbing pain.  It is like a nerve ending fires off and it feels like some one jabbed a needle into that area.  Most the time it is on the bottom of my right foot, sometimes, it is in the groin area.  Either way, it is a very unpleasant feeling.

Is it a kind of locking sensation in your finger, and you may be able to feel a lunp along the tendon down from the affected finger, then in all probability you do have trigger finger.  Treatment is to inject with lidocaine and if that doesn't sort it, or it recurs, then a small op. that can be done in the docs. Office will release it, or it can be done as an outpatient at hospital if you are squeamish.  Pretty common along with carpal tunnel syndrome in renal patients.
