Hi Everyone,
For the last 3 or 4 years I've been working on a spread sheet for myself. It's been tweaked with over and over and for me is now pretty complete.
It has foods that I feel are things I can eat safely on this renal diet. I used the website Nutritiondata.com for the information and have most things by oz or cup and the grams it weighs so if i want to be anal over this I can actually weigh stuff on my digital food scale.
I have for each item the amount, Phosphorous count, Potassium count and calorie count.
If you would like to see it, message me and I can e-mail it to you to look at.
I took off of the list pretty much all foods that were high in Phosphorous and Potassium like Swiss Chard and beans etc.
If you do like it I'd love some feedback. The spreadsheet is in Excel

Could you send me the spreadsheet also? Right now pre dialysis would it be the same?
Thanks glochis@aol.com

I'm pre dialysis too. This spread sheet just shows mostly foods I myself might eat and has on it the potassium and phosphorous amounts per serving of whatever weight I might have it in like ounces or cup etc.
I've tweaked with it over the years, took off the foods that were what I thought really high in one or the other like Swiss Chard... one cup raw is close to 1,000 mg of potassium. I also took off all the cheeses because the ones I listed are about 1/3 the phosphorus of the other cheeses except Cottage cheese but that's loaded with sodium and I don't care that much for it. Also you will not see nuts, beans and foods that are high in Phosphorous.
I've been saying for years that if it's good for you it's probably not good for me.... I really miss nuts, beans and whole grains :'( :'(
