Title: NKF Cares: Patient Information Helpline
Post by: Meinuk on December 13, 2011, 10:52:37 AM
Ok, my tongue is NOT in my cheek on this one.

It's a pretty good resource.  I called them and grilled them, a couple of times.  It is a phone line staffed by four people.  Counselors/Social Workers.  If they can't answer a question, they go to someone who can.

What bothered me a bit was when I asked if they counsel many people on dialysis I was told that very few people on dialysis call because they have social workers.  I didn't laugh at them, but I did remind them of the dire straits that the industry is in right now.  If anyone encounters an issue with calling them, post it here, also, if you have a success story let us know.

Until then, go for it, if you have a question that needs an answer, give the NKF a call.
