Was setup to have a permenasnt access put in on Weds a.m. Spoke with DR. on Monday of last week.
Tuesday I noticed redness in my leg and a little pain. Spoke to old Neph. and was told to have them look at in on Weds at dialysis/ Thye said it looked like cellulitis and they gave me 2 grams of Amsef a medication. They would ah=gain check it
On Saturday during Dialysis/ they said it looked the same and gave me another 2 grams . I woke up on Sunday and the leg was purple. Call old neph and spoke with oncall Dr and was tyold to go to ER . Spent 7 hrs at hospital waiting for a doppler tech to show up. No clot. Heres a new antibiotic go home and rest.
Did that , went to Dialysis today and had a 100.3 temp and was told to cancel everything. Very sad

I feel like that's the way things go for me a lot of the time too - delays, off-track troubles and complications one on top of another. I hate it for you too. So sorry, and always I'm hoping for better and improvement.

Yes, it seems like just when everything seems to be in balance, something else in life throws you a curve.
-
Really sorry to hear that you're going through such a hard time...
Hope things improve VERY soon....

Oh, Kevin.... I'm so sorry.
It's bad enough to get yourself mentally prepared for something to happen and then it doesn't. It's even worse that it happens because something has gone WRONG! >:(
Here is hoping that you get this straightened out soon and back on track. :cuddle;

sorry to hear your surefry was put off but it is pretty important to get that infection under control and especially since you had a fever. My husband has had them 3 or 4 times. At first he wasn't;t paying too much attention to them now I am only always the look out because if you spot them early enough, you can get a good handle on them before they get worse . Not always, but many times the infection comes from a bacteria that gets into a cut, and under your skin and effecting the subcutaneous layers of the skin. Symptoms are tenderness, warmth to the touch, and redness. It can become very severe if not treated. Having very dry skin can actually cause little tiny cracks in the skin where this bacteria can get in. For him, it has been a little since he has been taking good care of making sure his skin in that area is moist and supple as best can be expected. Not a days i know pretty much what the starting of a red patch of celluliteis looks like and I check it for warmth and or fever. You probably already know all this but i thought I would just share what i too have learned since. I never knew anything about it until a couple of years ago. So.... hopefully when your infection is gone you should be getting your permacath soon. Best to you!

I've had that before too, on my leg. I have psoriasis on my leg, and that is what got infected. It was red, and hot to the touch, I also had trouble putting weight on that leg. I was put on antibiotics and had to wear a pressure bandage to keep swelling down. It took about 2 weeks for it to clear up.
It would suck that it would happen just before you were to have your access surgery, though

Having my surgery today, No temp , leg okay . Will see what happens.

Hope all goes well.

Arrived at thw Surgeryy Center and the first theing they wanted was 200.00. Paid the money and did the paperworl / They sent me to waiting room and was then called back. Took my temp and I had a damn fever!!! 100.1 Took off my coat as I am always cold and afet a few it was at 99. Dr came in and inspected me from head to toe and gave the okat. Wheeled me into surgery gave me a shot pf something on the way and they slid me to operatong table
put the mask on me and then I woke up in recovery. Arm hurts and probably will for a few days. Should be able to use uit in 2 wks the doctor says.

Glad things went OK, you take care now.

here's to a speedy recoup!

My husband had celluliits in Hawaii so talk about a disruption of plans! However, they were able to get his --which had escalated to pain and legs swollen twice their size--under control in a few hours once they decided that's what is was a gave him antibiotic.
I have no doubt you will be okay but I know its scary. Believe me though, once they put the right antibiotic on the job, the difference will be quick.

Glad it got done and hope that your much better today ... One down :2thumbsup;
