Is there any one doing APD and also steroids. My husband has been seeing a neurologist, he has had different tests, the last one was a spinal tap with the conclusions that his protein is too high and that is why his electrodes are not working properly, hence his legs do not want to move much. I ask this because it is another road to walk down. I want to know if the steroids will affect his other meds and his dialysis.

I do PD with the cycler at night. I take 4 mg of prednisone every day. It had been higher. I don't think it interferes with PD. The thing to watch is steroids increase your appetite so you have to watch your weight which is already a problem on PD. Steroids have some other problems like nightmares and hair growth but you can live with those.

They can also cause water weight gain, which is a pita for dialysis patients, especially if peeing is no longer an option
