Im a little scared, i usually dont do research before hand due to my brain.... but i made that mistake lol
so now im freaking out hardcore! has anyone else had this done?
there really isnt much info on the actual complications and such from the company or drs, just found a blog where people told their stories... and that was scary!!!
I also watched the proceedure OMG that was terrifying!!!!!!!!!!
Idk, something about having a robot cut up then rip out ur "goodies" thru ur vag.... eh what was i thinking? is a transplant worth THAT? im sure it is, but wow.... im freaking out!
has anyone had this done??
-
I had a hysterectomy almost 3 years ago, and I sure wish I could have had it done with the DaVinci robot! It's much less invasive than what I had done! If you have to have this procedure at all, then DaVinci is the way to go, and you're lucky you have that option. Any type of surgery is freaky. What in the world possessed you to WATCH, you silly sausage? :P
I felt a thousand times better after my operation (once I had recovered). I can walk past the feminine hygiene aisle and not look back! Yay!
-
I had my big H in 1982 and had to have the C-section scar cut thru, but everyone I know who has had the other type say it is fantastic!!! Most of them were ready to go home the very next day. If yu watched just about any kind of surgery, you would probably freak out ( dang, I know I would) so just keep your eyes closed. Oh, yes, when I had my C-section, they placed the mirrors wrong and I was able to see everything. If I wasnt already scared out of my wits, I was when I saw that scalpel move down my tummy, so NO watching!!
-
the horror!!!
I FELT my c section, when they were stapling me up!
I think its just the idea of it coming out thru THERE that freaks me out the most.
I know ill be alot better after, and im excited i wont have to buy female things anymore!!!
-
I've watched videos of most of my surgerIes but not until AFTER! I probably wouldn't go through with them if I saw them before! Good Luck, you'll be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow! What time are you scheduled?
-
OMG, I just watched on YOUTUBE. I had never heard of anything like that before. I think it would freak me out :P
-
im headed for bed, i have to be there at 530am, and its 45 mins away!
-
Good luck. Please post as soon as you can. You are in all our thoughts.
-
Best of luck Jen. Everything will come out fine. Then this will be behind you.
:bow; :pray;

Today is Tuesday...thinking of you and sending you my strongest thoughts for an easy surgery and quick recovery. :grouphug;
-
is a transplant worth THAT? im sure it is, but wow.... im freaking out!
whaaaat? Why do you need a hysterectomy to get a transplant? Is that what you mean? Is this... I mean, .. are you a special case? I guess you explained this already somewhere else, my apologies, I'll go looking or someone post a link.
:o :o ??? ???
PS Dear Gothic, I hope you are feeling okay and it went alright. When I had a laparoscopy, after I woke up I discovered there was a fridge full of cheese sandwiches for the patients and we could have as many cups of tea as we liked. I hope there is something like that but with renal friendly foods for you to raid. Big Hugs.
-
YOur on my mind and in my heart to day... Hoping all goes just beautifuly and you get those same yummies as natnnat :) Get in touch when ya feel up to it.. :cuddle;

My daughter in law (35) had that type this year. Her recovery was so much easier without the incision. I hope it goes extremely well and that you will feel much better. I'm sending healing wishes and good thoughts to you. :cuddle;
-
waiting, impatiently, as usual, for news. hope all went well.
-
:pray; :waiting; :pray;

Waiting...
-
oh thank u everyone :)
im home now, it went just right the dr said. I am in alot of pain right now, but he said everything looks great.
i probably wont be online much for a few days, i intend on sleeping a bit :P
I had to have this done because they found cancer cells and tx wouldnt happen until i took care of that.
i cant believe how painful it is... i mean, yes it was surgery, but ive had many, and this one was not any less painful than reg surgery. plus one of the holes is on an old scar, making it even more sensitive i bleive!
:grouphug;
thank u all for the prayers and thoughts!
-
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply so promptly! Wow!
Be sure and take your pain pills as instructed. It is a lot easier to deflect pain before it has a chance to grab hold of you, so don't take your pills only when you think you are hurting enough to warrant it.
You will feel much better in a couple of days. I had my gallbladder removed laproscopically, and it was FAR easier to recover than my hyster/ginormous incision. Still, it WAS surgery, and it DID involve pain. So you take care and take it easy. So glad things went well. What a relief! One less thing for you to worry about.
-
So glad to know you're good safe and sound. I'll be in Champagne on Saturday, call me if you feel up to talking. Otherwise, sleep the pain away.
-
Wow...glad to hear everything went well.
I don't think I would have watched it on youtube....I would need therapy afterwards. ;D
-
Jen, Rest easy. :grouphug;
-
they found cancer cells and tx wouldnt happen until i took care of that.
I knew there had to be a reason. Well I hoped there was. And that's a very good reason. Hoping you're sleeping comfortably. All abdominal surgery hurts: here is a big wad of sympathy. A fast recovery would be just the ticket.
-
A little something to make you smile.
-
Hope today finds you feeling much better, GLM! :grouphug;
-
sleep well and be good to yourself. i'm glad all went well.
-
Glad surgery went well! Soon you will be back and posting. We miss you, girl!

Hope you're in less pain by now! Hang in there, it will get better!!!! :flower;

:grouphug; :grouphug; :grouphug;
Marc, I loved the pictures! :2thumbsup;
-
:2thumbsup; i love the pic
oh man, i hurt... feels like something ripping inside me eeep
to top it off, an old "friend" keeps bugging me to see her... she is CONSTANT about it, and i keep politely saying im really in pain, feel not so great, so maybe after i heal, but she doesnt seem to be taking no for an answer and i am starting to lose my cool... why cant people get it? i JUST had surgery, i dont want to do jack, and unfortunately i know what she truly wants, and im just not up for that at all. selfish people... grrrr
and try keeping my super snuggly baby boy off me oy impossible! i love that he wants my constnat attention and love, but right now i cant handle it :( makes me feel bad.
so glad this is over now, maybe it wont be long ill feel better. i hope!
Other than recovering from this i am doing ok. my dr doesnt believe me that is fluid, so he keeps upping my dw, even though im nearly positive its fluid...
sorry had to rant a min!
-
WEll, GET better dang it!!!!!!! I hope it's real soon for you and it'll all be just the past.... :grouphug;
-
We were in Urbana/Champagne today for the Gift of Life Walk. Thought about you all day. Hoping you have a more comfortable night tonight.
-
oh CebuShan i totally forgot u were going to be down! im sorry!
I didnt even finish my treatment today, due to the pain. If im still hurting this much tues, im going to request a bed instead of a chair!
i hate taking pain pills, but i have been. im not with it all so i probably should stop posting, lord only know what will come out when im drugged lol
-
If you are still in so much pain on Monday you should go and see if there is something wrong. I don't think it should still be hurting so much.
-
(((hugs))) feel better soon!
-
Hi, I had this done on 5/4/11. I did extremely well. I took pain pills every 4 hours for a few days. One tip is to hold a pillow tight to your stomach getting up or down.
If you want to talk more, you can pm me.
Take care!
:cuddle;
-
One tip is to hold a pillow tight to your stomach getting up or down.
I remember doing this when I had my gall bladder out. (Back in the old days when they actually had to cut you open) It does help some but NOT when your husband feels sorry for you & takes you to see movies like "Big" and "Crocodile Dundee"!
-
I had just a laparoscopy and lots of scraping of endometriosis last year in June, I was on my back for about 2 weeks afterwards. And didn't get back up to speed for about three or four. Some people take longer than others. I found that it wasn't horrible terrible pain, but it was sure enough to keep me quietly laying on my back. I did some knitting. I learnt to knit gloves. I cried a lot in the first few days because I was told it was going to be a breeze and I would be back at work a few days later, when I worked out it was going to take longer I settled in to wait and it wasn't as hard then.
-
Well it has now been over a week, im still in pain, actually i may even say i think im in MORE pain than i was...
I wasnt having bowel movents, probably due to the pain meds, so that finally happened, i figured id feel better, but noooo
the bruising is terrible, and i have absolutely no feeling on the skin, but deep inside i feel pain. like something is ripping my insides.
My brain of course automatically says this cant be normal! lol so im kind of emotional over all of this. How long does a person put up with odd pains and such before they demand something be done? I dont want to seem pushy or anything but wow this sucks!
I ended up going to ER just so i could have a BM! And that was a nightmare! the pain alone... eep. they had me drink something that reminded me of vegitable oil.
anywho, im doing well except for the pain. and ive wanted to sleep alot more than i ever have! its like i cant get enough.
my post op got cancelled due to power outtages, so it wont be until next week.
-
I remember now, the BM thing. I forgot about that. They gave me some powered stuff to take to get bowel movements happening. I had a lot of trouble with gas pain, they pump you full of gas and to separate the organs and then it caused me pain. Some people get that pain in their shoulder or back. I had it in my lungs. The first night, when I was about to leave hospital, I stood up and felt alright, and sat in a chair waiting for my husband, the gas moved gradually up around my lungs, and I felt like I couldn't breathe. It was really scary and I cried like a baby, so they gave me more pain meds and kept me in over night. If they'd just told me what it was, maybe it wouldn't have freaked me out so much? Anyway, then I was okay for a few days until the pain killers wore off, the heavy duty ones, after than it hurt much more than in the first day or so. I have a friend who had a hysterectomy the same time I had my lap, she had a lot of trouble, said it was really bad because her innerds used to sit on her womb and all that stuff, and now it was gone, there was like a space there? I wish I'd listened better, to remember so that I can tell you what she felt like and for how long. But she was very emotional too. I think its hard. I think it was much harder than she expected.
One thing I did was call my gyno's office. They weren't very helpful, and still said I would be back at work after a week, but they did explain about the gas pain and I think if there is something wrong it would be good to find out. I didn't have the post op till a month later, but I was able to call and get some information about what to expect. I had four holes, one in my belly button which got infected, and I had to work out what to do to help it heal. I think I called the hospital and they gave me advice over the phone. Have you considered calling the ward where you were in recovery? That's one of the places I called, the other was my otherwise good for nothing gyno.
-
my post op was supposed to be fri, but they had electrical issues and resched. for me for nezt week.
my scars look ok, thank god for that! I usually have issues with disovable stitches.
Im finally going potty, YAY, but it hurts so bad, i assume gas pains? im not sure, it floors me how bad it hurts.
and now i have a fever to top it off.
gosh i cant wait til this is over!!
-
I'm so sorry you are still hurting. Sending you gentle hugs. :cuddle; Wish there was something I could do to help you out.
-
this fever is kicking my butt tonight
thank u all for hugs and concern
-
Fever...You need to get to a doctor ASAP.
-
I had my hysterectomy the old fashioned way, and I have the scar to prove it. Without a doubt, the worst pain I felt was from the gas. Oh my dear God, it was awful. Before surgery, I had read on HysterSisters that to relieve the gas pain, you should lie on your right side. I had trouble with the anesthesia and was stuck in ICU for a couple of nights because I just couldn't wake up, but once I could open my eyes, they tried to get me to sit in this really hard chair, and I think it made the gas squeeze me all inside because it was agony. I got back into bed, and that's when I remembered the advice about lying on my right side. I mentioned this to the nurse, and she said it was true...not the left side but the RIGHT side! And that's the only thing that helped. But the pain was awful, much more so than from my massive incision.
I hope you are better soon, and if your fever goes above 101, see a doc. Post surgery low-grade fevers are common. I had one most nights for several weeks, but as long as they don't get to 101, you should be OK. Simple Tylenol might help. I found that to help more with both pain and fever than the prescription painkillers.
:cuddle; Try to remember that this is all for a good cause. You want to get on that list, right?!! :2thumbsup;
-
Hope you are feeling less feverish this morning GLM. Take your temperature and get to a doc if its high, okay? :cuddle;
-
DearGLM, I sent a message to my friend I told you about who had a hysterectomy recently, and asked her if she had a "ripping" pain like you described, and how she went... she says:
no I didn’t have pain like that. I think pain that feels like it is ripping you is plain wrong. I had strong pain when I walked or laughed, and I remember that sense of weirdness about my innards (grieved bits like my cervix) and I still feel nervous about having a poo (that really hurt for a while), but no just general pain. If I lay or sat, I generally felt fine. It was just painful when I did things. My mum made me walk a little each day, and that hurt at first, but she proved right, in that it didn’t do any harm and the Dr said would speed up the recovery. I had some worrying bleeding and rang the gyno who said nothing to worry about. So I guess I am saying, if she has pain when she’s not doing anything, then that is probably not normal.
She didn't have much bruising either, which might just be the difference between one body and other.
If you have pain when you aren't moving around, could you call the doctor or something, Gothic? I guess you have been to the ER, but still, I worry about you over there. I don't know where you stand with your medical system and calling for adivce, but if you could call your gyno's office, just to run it past them... Anyway, big careful hugs. xxn
-
I just found that my friend actually sent two emails in reply not one. Here is the second one:
Forgot to say – I also felt like sleeping alot. My gyno, a man said to take 4 weeks off. My GP, a woman, said 6. I took the 6 and hobbled about at work for the 7th, but was pretty much back to physically normal by 8. I found I was very teary and low for about 3 months, and am still on hormone replacement therapy, or I still get teary, much more easily than I used to. I just remembered that I did have a pain in my side that worried me, that I thought was related to the Hysterectomy, but after xrays and scans, turned out to be muscular-skeletal, and with physio and pilates is now pretty much gone. I forgot about that in my first email.
Given that other ladies have commented here it wasn't as bad for them, I figure that maybe you will have some comfort from knowing that you might fall somewhere in the middle of these experiences, hopefully a quicker recovery than my friend, but maybe for the time being it might help to know that it wasn't trivial for my friend either (or I with my lap).
OR you have a fever and better get yourself looked at quick smart.
i feel like i've turned into a small yappy dog hassling you: arf arf arf arf arf! arf arf! phone someone! arf arf arf!!!

my fever broke hard this morning, sweat galore lol
its just 99 ish so far today, if it doesnt go over 100 ill wait and call them in the morning. i hurt all over, probably the low fever idk.
i am feeling a little better after my morning shower though, going to carve some pumpkins with the kiddo, hopefully catch a nap later, and hopefully my fever will not go up!
tomorrow im calling tc and letting them know ive had it, should have done this last week, but i slept pretty much the entire time lol
-
Checked in to see how you were doing. Take it easy. Glad to hear you have pumpkins on your mind and a temp of 99. I don't worry as much now I have a number in mind, especially a number under 100. :cuddle;
-
Try not to overdo things today. How's the temp this morning?
-
back and forth between 99 and 101.3 today, i think it can wait til my post op wed do u?
-
Personally, I would watch it very closely and if it stayed above 100 I would call.
-
Let us know how your post op goes. I guess silence today means a quiet and uneventful day.
-
i go to post oop today, leaving shortly.
I was in ER last night, thought for sure i had pneumonia, but apparently was a bad allergy attack due to the bathroom construction going on in my dads house lol didnt know allergies can raise ur temp...
the er doc wouldnt address my current pain/bowel issues, due to having my appt today, so even though he was already cat scanning my body, he decided not to go ahead and check my lower abd. why? that seems like a waste of time and money to me... why not go ahead and take the pics, and send them to my doc? anywho... so ill post later what i find out.
-
ok so i went to my appt...
Dr said that the pain i am feeling may be normal for the proc. so he wants me to wait it out until my 4 wk appt to see if its something else.....
*blinks*
-
Sheesh ... did he say the same thing about the higher temperatures you've been running ??? Like someone else said upthread, if your temps keep running high, I'd definitely head back to him and say 'WTF' ???
-
todd i love ur quote ;) not sure if u got it from rent, but i love that movie lol
yes i know, i feel like...wtf... why doesnt anyone seem to find this odd? I can barely breathe, and the pain when i potty, and low grade fever... but lets wait 4 more weeks
really??
-
Do you have a GP? Ask them or your neph. Unless you normally run a low grade fever I would NOT accept that diagnosis! That's just BS! Pain could be "normal" (everyone has different levels) but not running a fever.
-
my temp was usually about 96 ish
its now running 99.9to 100.4 range
yet the er drs didnt find anything, mmy blood looks fine,
my gp is my neph..... unfortunately
-
Have you talked to your neph? Does he think your temp is fine? Do they think your temp is up because your body is trying to heal? I can't think of any other reason. It just doesn't sound right to me. I would push for more of an explanation.
-
havent seen my neph, and he will probably just offer pain pills, as usual (so annoying) i try ttelling him about my symptoms and he just blows me off. the shaking thing still hasnt been resolved and thats been going on for years. he just says he doesnt know what that could be... same with the hip pain... no idea, wants some pain meds? no jerk id like to know why i hurt or shake or whathaveu
-
I went to my preop, and he didnt even look me over, said the pain was normal, and to wait until nov 30th appt to check me out to make sure everything is normal... apparently im just a big baby lol
i still have a low grade fever, but the pain has gone down quite a bit, thank God.
Now my fistula arm is swollen up, but i had a sono on it, waiting for results.
i really am so sick of all of this crap we all have to deal with.
a bit of humor- i had a dream the other night that my neph impregnated my fistula..................
-
a bit of humor- i had a dream the other night that my neph impregnated my fistula..................
That is perhaps the weirdest thing I've heard in a very long time. :rofl;
-
i've had some pretty weard dreams........ yurs is GREAT!! :rofl; :rofl; :rofl; Though please dont tell "how" he impregnated it.... :rofl;
-
haha my brother said the same thing, but the only thing i can think to say, how ELSE would he do it?? certainly not artificially .... ya weird dream about old neph humping away at my fistula.
really think it was when i got the sono, the sound it makes sounds the same as a baby sono... maybe? idk.
-
Well don't keep us in suspense, is it a boy or girl? :rofl;
-
ohhhhhhhhh buoy.... yeah!! uh huh,,,, so like i said, i have some weard dreams but yours, well it's pretty special...lol :rofl;
-
its too soon to tell! lol my vote is for a girl :P
so i have to have a er.... um... fistulagram? i think... i have a narrowing.
