My husband has become belligerent and scary when he does not get dialysis for a couple of days. Is this normal? (He is not sticking to the renal diet either.)
-
I'd guess the toxins are building up to a level that is starting to affect his brain chemistry. Normal, not so much, but not completely unexpected if he's not getting adequate dialysis.
-
Make sure you talk to the doctors about the behavior, something is out of whack.
-
Is he skipping dialysis or do you just mean in between his 3 times a week treatment?
Can you get a copy of his labs and see what his levels are?
Is he being treated for depression or other stress?
Do you feel like you're in danger?
So sorry, i hope you can get some answers. :cuddle;

i get a lil nuts when i skip a treatment, and when i skipped multiple treatments in the past, i was insane...

Toxin buildup can do a lot of different things to you. Mood swings can be incredibly nasty. When I was a kid, I got what we call sooky. I was 14 years old and I'd carry a stuffed animal around with me. Now, if I miss a treatment, which doesn't happen very often, I get rather paranoid, and feel like everyone in the world is out to get me.
I'd talk to the doctor, just to make sure that there isn't come kind of other problem with him, but he should go to dialysis as scheduled. Skipping treatments lead to other problems, like heart issues, which can be a little harder to treat. I'd be wondering about depression if he's not wanting to do dialysis
