Title: oof...a new level of pain....
Post by: cattlekid on September 08, 2011, 04:48:05 PM
So I had my fistula surgery last Friday and have been taking Tylenol 3 on and off since then.  Well, I had had heard that there is the possibility of constipation with opiate use but never experienced it before.

Tonight's pain at treatment was epic.  They wanted to take 3 off but I think a lot of that was not fluid.   :o  I started crashing and the gut pain was unbearable.  For the first time in my eight months on dialysis, I quit treatment early.  I got no flack from the staff so I think they knew I wasn't joking.  Luckily, I have a treatment tomorrow (switched from Sat. due to wedding) so I should be okay.

Took a Ducolax and am praying it will do the trick by morning.  My gut is screaming.  >:(

What works for me is eating lots more fiber.

Eat lots of fibrous vegetables.   And consider taking UniFiber supplements.  These are cellulose and hence you don't need to take them with a lot of water as you do with psyllium supplements.
