Only two years on dialysis and on the 5th fistula placement one only ever worked and it is now going bad so another back up one it is was it is, just a bit down its ok though.
-
So sorry, dyann. Let's hope 5 is your lucky number. :grouphug;

I think I'd want to know why they've stopped working.. wow... 5 in 2 years? I've had 2 in 20 years, and the first one was never actually used.
-
I have been told that I scar very badly, I have had 10 fistulagrams do to the scar tissue it is frustrating at some point I may have to go to PD I dont know, but will continue to think positve and fight :boxing;
-
Thats right!!!!! keep fighting :boxing; and you'll win :flower; Sending my prayers that this one is thee one to carry you to health... :pray;
-
So sorry you've been having so much trouble...hope this attempt is successful. :grouphug;

I am really, really sorry to hear this. Where will this new one be placed? Would it be possible for you to have a graft instead? Or is that a stupid question...I really don't know.

I'm new here but I can feel your frustration. Don't give up and remember the secret password ... :secret; perseverance!
Oh, if you only knew how many words I spelled wrong you'd be really thankful for spell check! :2thumbsup;
-
how ya doen dyann? and....... your funny daveosaurus... im a crazy speller at times and just forget to look back to see what i wrote... gotta remember that spellcheck!!!!
-
I think that if I had to have so many fistulas put in, and still had the option for PD, I'd be doing that really quick. I am a bit biased on PD, however, as I involuntarily gave it up

Feeling pretty good they are hoping this one goes better, I have to admit I was a little down it just seems things dont ever get better, but meeting with my clinic nurse on tuesday to discuss my concerns. I feel like both arms have been through a war there are scars all over my arms. I feel like everytime I turn around something else goes wrong. would be nice to have a little break even if just a small one to go out and laugh and just feel normal for once.

Yes, it is all so unrelenting. And I don't know what "normal" is, anymore. I really hope that you will get a scrap of good luck and will have a good, working fistula soonest. If scarring is such a problem for you, has your surgeon given you his reason for thinking that this time your new fistula will be successful? And again, is there a possibility that a graft instead of a fistula might be the answer for you?
Please keep us posted on how you are getting on, OK? I'm eager to know how well this fistula will perform for you.

How is it going for you Dyann? Do you feel the "frill"? It was so strange when I felt my husbands "frill". It was like a bee fluttering under his skin. Knock on wood, he has had it for over 2years now and it is still kicking. Some find them ugly, but I find it "BEAUTIFUL".
I really hope and pray this goes great for you. You certainly deserve a break from all of this surgery stuff! Crossing my fingers and whatever else there is!
God Bless,
