I'm tired, always tired. I get up in the morning and I'm tired. I drive to work and just want to sit in my car and nap. Is it CKD or is it a side effect of Toprol? I'm at about 20% function, probably a bit less than 20%.

It's the CKD.

Its the CKD! I'm on hemo have almost perfect labs and I'm tired all the time. It just doesn't end. Maybe if I could get a good nights sleep it would help. But so far nothing works for tthat.

I agree with Pam. I fell asleep at a stop light before I was diagnosed. It is a tired I had never felt before -- like you are walking through quicksand in a huge fog. And you can't explain to others how tired, because everyone says they are tired. Don't push yourself. Rest when you can.

Could be both together, the med compounding the relentless fatigue of the CKD. One of Toprol's side effects apparently is increased difficulty sleeping so restless sleep and relentless fatigue equals your basic recipe for exhaustion.

At 20%, anything less than 11 or 12 hours of sleep a night left me a whimpering mess the next day.

It turns out it was the Toprol. I saw my neph this week. She asked how my energy level was. When I said "What energy?" she asked right away if I thought it was from Toprol because my creatinine level is pretty stable. She cut my Toprol dose in half, doubled my lasix dose to 80mg/day, and is adding in another bp med (I don't remember the name of it. I'll have it in a few days through mail order). It only took about a day to notice the difference. I know I'm still more tired than "normal" people, but I'm able to function again.
As a bonus, by doubling the lasix dose, I found my ankles! They've been lost for quite a while. :bandance;
